 COMIC IN 9 COUNTRIES
The museum has nine exhibition halls for the purpose of exhibiting comic from nine Asian countries or regions, which are Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong. Apart from these exhibition halls, there is another hall dedicated to seasonal events which are related to the Asian comics industry. Comic-related exhibitions and book launches are usually held there. Visitors who enter the museum will first be greeted with displays that show the materials and tools that a professional comics illustrator uses. There is also a replica of a comics stall which showcases a variety of comics that can be found at roadside stalls in Malaysia. You can also have yourself photographed with characters from your favourite comics, such as Gempak Starz's The X-vengers, Supa Strikas and Eddie See's Kokko and May.
The Malaysian comics hall is the the place for local visitors to delve into the history of our nation's comic industry. This is the place for youngsters to get familiar with Gila-Gila and adults to get familiar with new titles from Gempak Starz. There is also a section dedicated to the works of controversial local comics illustrator, Zunar. A travel ban was imposed on him before the change of the federal administration in May 2018 after his works, which exposed the alleged corrupt practices conducted by the previous federal administration in Malaysia infuriated the same administration. His works incorporated a lot of bold strokes and cartoonish figures which is able to tickle the funnybones of the typical reader. A chronology of the industry is beautifully presented on both sides of the hall.
