Hong Kong comics will always have a place in the hearts of Malaysian comics fan, especially those who are familiar with Cantonese, a dialect widely spoken in the Oriental metropolis and the Southern provinces of Mainland China. Hence, the museum dedicates a hall to the industry which experienced a golden age before the turn of the century. The works of Tony Wong and Ma Wing-Shing are featured prominently as they have cemented their illustrious legacies with numerous memorable titles. The China zone is a hall which showcases numerous Communist comics that were aimed at inculating loyalty to the Communist party of the nation in the hearts of its people. However, you can also find other titles which tackles different genres on display. There is also a Sun Wu Kong miniature on display in the zone. In comparison, the Taiwan zone and the Korea zone seems lacklustre but the genres that their comics artists explore are just as wide as the genres that the Hong Kong and Chinese comics artists dabble.
The theme event hall is the place for various exhibitions that are related to the Asian comic industry to take place. Past events that were held there include a Bruce Lee exhibition, the book launch of the comic book on the current Penang state government and talks by comic artists themselves. The hall also marks the last stop of the comic museum and before you leave, do not forget to visit the Museum Shop for rare titles, souvenirs and exclusive comics that are only available in the shop such as the new compilation of comic strips which were previously published in Kwong Wah Yit Poh. The museum shop is in front of you once you leave the event hall.
