Andersonville
Andersonville, a sub-neighborhood of Edgewater, is a vibrant
community of tree-lined streets and brick and frame homes. Initially
settled in the mid-19th Century by Swedish immigrants, Andersonville
retains much of this legacy in its clean architecture, the Swedish
American Museum on Clark Street and its bakeries, most notably
Ann Sather, “Chicago’s favorite” Swedish restaurant. Independent
cafes, bookshops, antique shops, art galleries and even experimental
theaters line the streets, offering an alternative to the ordinary. This
neighborhood also benefits from being in close proximity to Lake
Michigan and easy commuting distance to the Loop.
