KCUSD Online recognizes students Contributed
The View From Here
I don’t know what has been in the air recently, but my
The Kings Canyon Online academy held a recognition ceremony for parents and students.
Students were recognized for their accomplishments and hard work during the Fall semester.
Recipients were chosen for their academic work and course completion.
Nearly 40 students quali- fied to receive an award and those who were awarded were given a certificate and had their photos taken with their KCO supervisor, teach- er and parents.
"Parents and students were excited about being able to participate in the awards ceremony to ac- knowledge the hard work done by all this semester," said Renee Delport, KCUSD public information officer.

dry and
irritated. The weather keeps changing from hot to cold and back to hot every other day, so maybe that could be the cause of my eye prob- lems.
The backseat of my car is filled with a vari- ety of jackets or sneak- ers, jeans, just to ac- commodate myself to whatever the weather is deciding on that particu- lar day.
On the afternoon of April 21, we were as- signed to cover the Ar- menian Genocide com- memoration ceremony at Fresno State.
I was dressed for summer but the weather decided on fall. I walked up to a nearby restroom and changed from the summer dress I had on toapairofjeansanda t shirt.
I learned that the event was hosted by the Armenian Student Organization. I had the chance to speak to the president of the ASO club and he told me they host the student run event first and then a few days later on the anniversary of the genocide they will host a large event complete with city dignitaries and visitors from all over the Central Valley.
I attended both. I knew about the Arme- nian Genocide of 1915, but up until then I’d nev- er stopped to take a few moments and reflect on what happened and how many people it affected.
On Sunday, April 24, the 107th anniversary of the genocide, hundreds showed up to the Fresno State Armenian monu- ment on campus.
I had the chance to talk to Christopher Shamlian. He told me he is on the board of direc- tors for the Charlie Key- an Armenian Commu- nity School. Christopher told me his own children attend the community school and he attended it as a child as well.
He gave me some background information on what the event means to him and why it’s im- portant for his children and students to continue to learn about the geno- cide.
