Options are plenty for youth football scene
ree teams play in three di erent leagues while player talent is spread thin
in the Valley Elite Youth League face squads from Fresno, Hanford to Bakersfield.
With intriguing choices staring right at prospective players, the question of availability of talent starts to creep in for coaches and their respective teams.
Dinuba Trojans President Sergio Correa noted that having so many teams does limit the availability of talent.
“It does thin out the talent and spreads them out.” Correa said.
That also puts pressure on coaches and teams to have a solid number of players on their roster for the season. Correa noted the Trojans are doing well in players at all levels.
“We have a few new faces from other towns. But I would say a majority of our players are returners in their third full year.” Correa said.
Moreno said his teams still have room in the upper division while the Gladiators are hoping for a spike in numbers as their practices move continues.
“We’re still struggling for kids,” said commissioner Sam Smith. “I know there’s enough players to support all teams.”

There are plenty of options for parents and their kids when it comes to playing youth football in the community.
That’s a good thing.
Herein lies an unusual scenario as Dinuba’s three youth football teams play in different leagues. So parents who are on the fence of letting their kids play will have to do some research ranging from affordability to level of competition.
“Parents do have options,” said Dinuba Youth Football President Harvey Moreno. “All three [teams] are different from where they practice and the places they play at.”
