Huerta closes strong at Area meet

Orosi High School’s Chris Huerta closed out his prep career with a solid effort at the East Area Qualifier in Tulare on May 8. The senior set a pair of personal records in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.68 and 42.90 in the 300 hurdles, earning fifth place in each event.

Liberty loaded the bases in the top of the sixth inning as Martinez was able to get out of the jam on a ground out.
The Hawks again put a runner at first and second base with two outs in the top of the seventh. Opposing pitcher, Camille Vestal, was at the plate and hit a groundball back to Martinez, who threw to Flores for the final out.
In their opener against Kerman on May 9, Dinuba scored three runs in the third and fourth innings in a 6-2 win over the Lions.
Villareal got the offense going with a leadoff single in the third inning. E. Flores followed with a bunt single and Garcia hit a sacrifice fly to score Villareal. J. Flores again came up big as she drilled a double to score E. Flores. Dinuba added another
run on a miscue from Kerman that allowed J. Flores to come home to push the lead to 3-0.
In their following at-bat, Dinuba had three consecutive singles from Felicity Morales, Alyssa Hernandez and Villareal. Kerman made another error that paved the way for Dinuba’s fourth run of the game. With the bases loaded, Garcia was hit by a pitch as Villareal trotted home from third base and J. Flores’ single scored E. Flores. Dinuba’s threat was put out as Kerman recorded a pop out and a deep fly out off the bat of Hernandez.
Kerman managed to score a run in the sixth and seventh innings.
J. Flores finished the game going 3-for-3 with 2 RBI’s and Garcia also drove in a pair of runs. Hernandez and Villareal each had two hits.

Kings River Union track and field athletes Callie Waldner and Julian Adame Jr. had a terrific meet at the Valley Youth Championships at Buchanan High School on May 11. Waldner captured the midget girls 1500 and was sixth in the 800. Adame Jr. won the bantam boys 200 and was third in the 100.

Two Dinuba baseball players Armando Mejia and Jose De la Cruz will be getting an opportunity to represent the Valley in the International Little League Classic tin the Dominican Republic. The Classic will take place in late July through the first week of August. The 2019 Dinuba High School Youth Football Clinic Under the Lights will be held from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, May 31 at the Dinuba High Stadium
The clinic is for ages 7-15 and cost is $30. Registration will be held at 5:30 p.m.
Campers will receive a DHS football t-shirt, instruction from DHS coaches and players, and food.
Campers should wear shorts/ t-shirt and football cleats.

Dinuba High's Estevan Diaz
is named Athlete of the Week after qualifying for the Central Section Track and Field Championships at Buchanan. Diaz punched his ticket to the finals after placing third in the shot put event with a throw of 48-feet-4 1/2 inches at the East Area Qualifiying meet in Tulare.
