Hundreds of marijuana plants were eradicated in an Orosi drug bust by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.

Sentinel staff report
The Tulare County Registrar of Voters released its final official election results for the June 5 Primary, revealing the overall totals for local political races.
For the Tulare County Supervisor 4th District, the votes tallied have increased to 8,077 with Cutler-Orosi Joint Unified School District President Eddie Valero maintaining a majority lead in the three-candidate race. Valero finished with 54.5 percent, followed by Dinuba Vice Mayor Kuldip Thusu at 33.5 percent and community advocate Romelia Nino Castillo with 11.3 percent.
Valero will be sworn in to the position in January 2019 and his vacancy on the school board will be filled with a replacement for the remainder of his COJUSD term.
Valero will be joined on the Board of Supervisors by Dennis Townsend who also won a majority in a three-candidate race for the 5th District seat.
The race to replace long-time Tulare County Superintendent
of Schools Jim Vidak will have a November runoff after former Visalia Unified School District Superintendent Craig Wheaton secured 44.3 percent of the votes and Exeter School District Superintendent Tim Hire finished with 38.8 percent. Candidate Anthony Martin finished a distant third with 16.5 percent.
For the Tulare County District Attorney position, incumbent Tim Ward finished with 65.4 percent over challenger Matt Darby’s 34.3 percent.
In the tightly contested State Assembly 26th District race, the Tulare County results did not dictate the final outcome as the top three candidates were separated by less than 1.4 percent of votes. With votes from Inyo County and a small portion of Kern County included, incumbent Devon Mathis and challenger Jose Sigala are expected to advance to the November runoff. Visalia Mayor Warren Gubler finished second in the Tulare County results, but trails both Mathis and Sigala slightly in the overall tally.
