Reedley Elks Lodge hosts First Responders Appreciation Dinner

Reedley Elks Lodge #2699 honored 17 first responders at the lodge's 11th annual First Responders Appreciation Award Dinner on May 25.
Regional police chiefs, fire chiefs and the Sequoia Safety were asked to submit names of employees they would like recognized. Chiefs from Dinuba, Orange Cove, Parlier, Reedley and Sanger along with Fowler, Kings- burg and Sanger responded.
Honorees were introduced af- ter the dinner by their chief, and all shared stories about their service to their agencies. Honorees then were presented with a framed certificate of appreciation and a $50 gift card.

Prajedis 'Penny' Cecilia Casado Prajedis "Penny" Ce-
cilia Casado of Sanger died June 8. She was 93. Mrs. Casado worked
as a bookkeeper.
She is survived her
husband, Andrew R. Casado of Sanger; and three sons.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. with ro- sary at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at Wallin's Sanger Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at St. Mary's New Catholic Church in Sanger.
Rachel M. Gonzalez
Rachel M. Gonzalez
of Reedley died June 2 in Oakland. She was 40.
Ms. Gonzalez worked as an accountant.
She is survived by
her spouse, Jose A. Juarez; her parents, Juan and Teresa Gonza- lez; and two sisters.
A Celebration of Life service was held June 9 at Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church.

Maria de Jesus Ochoa de Gonzalez Maria de Jesus Ochoa
de Gonzalez of Visalia died June 10 in Visalia. She was 77.
Mrs. Ochoa de Gon- zalez was a homemaker. She is survived by
her spouse, Domingo Gonzalez of Visalia; one daughter, six grandchil- dren and four great- grandchildren.
Visitation will start at 9 a.m. with a mass at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, at
Sterling & Smith Funeral Home in Dinuba. Inter- ment will be a Smith Mountain Cemetery in Dinuba.
John M. Mora
John M. Mora of Visalia died May 21 in Visalia. He was 59.
Mr. Mora worked in pharmaceutical sales.
He is survived by six brothers and one sister.
Visitation and ro- sary were held June 14 at Dopkins Reedley Fu- neral Chapel. A funeral mass was held June 15 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Reed- ley. Interment was at Reedley Cemetery.
Samuel Pascua
Samuel Pascua of Visalia died May 29 in Visalia. He was 93.
Mr. Pascua worked as a farm laborer.
He is survived by four sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thurs- day, June 16, at Dopkins Dinuba Funeral Chapel. A graveside service was to follow at Smith Mountain Cemetery in Dinuba.

of Parlier died May 25 in Parlier. He was 69.
Mr. Reyna worked as a foreman.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Reyna of Parlier; one son, one daughter, one brother, one sister, six grand- children and five great- grandchildren.
Visitation and a mass were held June 10 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Parlier. Inter- ment was at Mendocino

ers of Sanger died June 12. He was 79.
Mr. Smothers worked as a bartender.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Smothers of Sanger; and one son.
No visitation is sched- uled. A mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at St. Mary's New Catholic Church in Sanger.

of Reedley died May 5 in Reedley. He was 77.
Mr. Teranishi worked as a tile setter.
He is survived by one

Luella Unruh of Reedley died May 24 in Reedley. She was 104.
Mrs. Unruh worked as a farmer.

A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Fri- day, June 17, at Reedley Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Dopkins Reedley Funer- al Chapel.

Harry D. Willems of Reedley died May 31 in Reedley. He was 100.
Mr. Willems worked as a grounds supervisor. He is survived by his wife, Elvina Willems of Reedley; three sons, two daughters, one brother, one sister, 12 grandchil- dren and 18 great-grand-
children.

will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at Reedley Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 10 a.m. Thurs- day, June 16, at Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church.
