An afternoon road range in- cident in downtown Sanger near the post office on June 13 ended with the arrest of a Sanger man, who was facing two felony as- sault charges including felony assault on police officers.
The incident began at about 3:30 p.m., when police dispatch- ers received a call from a man saying he was being chased by a black sports utility vehicle on Academy Avenue, according to a Sanger Police Department news release.

Officers with the Reedley Police Department – aided by the Fresno County Sheriff's Department's Special Inves- tigations Task Force — broke up a large marijuana grow operation in east Reedley on June 14.
A news release stated that the law enforcement unit served a search warrant in the 2300 block of East Washington Avenue, capping a several months-long into allegations of a marijuana grow operation inside the residence.

Parlier, Sanger send off respective large classes

A busy graduation season in Mid Valley Times country concluded last week, with Parlier High School and Sanger High School honoring graduating senior classes in their respective ceremonies.
On June 9, Parlier seniors prepared for a hot sendoff
by gathering in the climate- controlled gym, then mak- ing the trek into the high school stadium before a large crowd of family and friends. The 212 graduates in the Class of 2022 included valedictorian speakers Jared A. Herrera and Guadalupe Lopez Trejo.

    Smith Mountain Cemetery faces water crisis

Smith Mountain Cemetery in Dinuba is facing a severe lack of water, and the crisis has the Alta Cemetery District considering landscape designs to handle
the situation.
A June 10 news release public state-
ment from the district said that the cem- etery has just one working well and is "no longer able to obtain sufficient wa- ter pressure to maintain the cemetery grounds as they used to be." Attendees
at the Memorial Day ceremony at the cemetery saw brown grass throughout much of the facility.

 Let there be water: Kings River opens for rec season

As of last weekend (left photo), the Kings River under the Olson Avenue Bridge passing Cricket Hollow Park was non-existent. But by Monday, June 13, water was quickly filling under the bridge and the river was expected to be at full levels by mid-week, according to the Kings River Water Association. Water releases from Pine Flat Reservoir are being used to serve farms and orchards in areas near the river in Fresno, Tulare and Kings counties, but the KRWA said the water releases should last only about 60-70 days.
