The Emperors (15-2) got out to a great start as Alexa Garcia belted a two-run homer off Buchanan starter, freshman Kelsey Tadlock, for a 2-0 lead.
Buchanan scored four runs in the second and added another run in the third for a 5-2 lead.
Dinuba then got to Tadlock again in the the bottom half of the inning as Faith Hernandez droveinapairofrunsona double. The Bears then went to their ace, senior Michelle Kroell, who blanked the Emperors the last few innings.
Despite the setback Patterson said he felt the team swung the
bat very well.
“I felt we weren’t afraid to
swing the bat,” he said. “We pounded their starter and hit the ball very hard.”
Kirsten Martinez pitched a complete game and spaced out eight hits.
Garcia went 3-for-3 to lead the offense.
On March 28 at home against Central Valley Christian, Dinuba scored a run in the bottom of the second and sixth innings and that was enough offense for Martinez as the Emperors posted a 2-0 win.
Martinez scattered four hits with 10 strikeouts as her opponent, Rylie Atherton, was equal to the challenge allowing four hits with 13 strikeouts.

Dinuba High School’s annual powderpuff football game, pitting the Seniors versus the Juniors, was held on Friday in front of a large crowd. Down 12-6 at halftime, the Juniors rallied for an 18-12 win. The two teams were coached by members of the Dinuba High football team. At the Central Sequoia League Cluster meet in Exeter, Estrada won the 400 in 53.20 and 800 in 2:12.15. Aurajo was first in the 1600 in 4:58.84. In the 3200, Dinuba made it a clean sweep led by Padilla’s winning time of 10:33.79. Estrada was 2nd in 10:53.80 and Jaime Soto was third at 11:42.48.
Devon Mendoza won the 110 hurdles in 18.48. In the 200, Mike Wilson was 2nd with a time of 23.71 and Angel Lopez was fifth in 24.83.

The momentum didn’t last long as Dinuba countered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning when Ochoa and Josh Escobedo had consecutive singles. With two outs, Ochoa

In a close 100 meter hurdles race, Natalie Duran was second at 18.30 just behind Exeter’s Teagan Bryant’s 18.20 and ahead of Petra Vander Goot of Central Valley Christian (18.40).
Coach Lucas Lichtenwaldt stated the league is strong this

On Thursday, Lozoya’s single was the only hit of the game in a 2-0 loss to Central Valley Christian. Ochoa took the loss despite a three hit and seven strikeout effort.

“The CSL is having one of the
strongest years across the board that I can remember as a coach. Kingsburg and Exeter look like the teams to beat this year on the boys side,” he said.
Lichtenwaldt noted there could be a handful of teams on the girls side to come out on top.
“We’re looking to strengthen each of our events to squeeze the most points possible out of them and see if we can’t be the last man standing when it’s all said and done.”
Dinuba Youth Baseball and Softball Opening Day will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Roosevelt Park. There will be recognitions of players, coaches, sponsors and elected officials.

The Dinuba Wrestling Club will be having signups for the upcoming Freestyle and Greco season in the Dinuba High wrestling room from 6 – 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Cost is $50 and will include your USA card. Athletes from the surrounding area are welcome to join.
Interested individuals will
need to bring a copy of your birth certificates as well. The club will be accepting ages 5 and up.
Practices are underway and will be every Tues. & Th. from 6 - 8 p.m. in the DHS wrestling room.
