Dinuba is 15-12 overall and 7-5 in the Central Sequoia League standings. The win moved DHS ahead of Exeter in the CSL standings as the Monarchs fall to 6-6 and 13-15 overall.
The Emperors jumped out to an incredible start scoring the first 21 points of the game. Freshman guard Kailey Lopez opened the game with a 3-pointer and converted a layup for a
quick 5-0 lead. Yasmine Villareal-Harris followed with a layup on an assist from Lopez and Dinuba added consecutive layups by Krysta Casas and Lopez for a 13-0 lead.
Exeter could not make a basket missing layups and open perimeter shots and the Emperors made them pay. The lead grew to 16-0 on a 3-point shot from Kaylee Villasenor. Teammate
Azlynn Villalobos made a basket off an assist by Villasenor, who added another 3-pointer. Exeter guard Indianna Tobias launched a half-court shot buzzer beating shot for the Monarchs’ only basket in the first quarter.
After the hot start, Dinuba cooled off in the second quarter as Exeter was looking to cut the double-digit lead before half as forward Haylee McFall.

Dinuba High lost twice to Central Valley Christian in the regular season this year, both times in closely contested games.
At Friday night’s game in front of a packed gymnasium, the Cavaliers scored the first two points but the Emperors made sure that would be their only lead as Dinuba posted a 56-51 in a Central Sequoia League contest.
Dinuba moved to 20-7 overall and 6-5 in CSL and CVC is 16-7 and 7-4 in league.
The Emperors, who’s largest lead of the game was 12 points, withstood a few rallies from CVC, including the last two minutes.
Junior guard Josh Magaña scored all of his 18 points draining six 3-pointers.

Luke Rodriguez was the only other player in double figures with 13.
DHS led 7-2 early in the game and a 3-pointer by Magaña increased the lead to 22-10 in the second quarter. CVC went on an 11-2 run to pull within three points, 24-21, but the Emperors’ Isaak Flores nailed a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to end the first half.
In the third quarter, Rodriguez converted a rare 4-point play that increased the lead up to double digits at 36-24. The Cavaliers answered with a Jarren Myers 3-pointer and a short jumper by Eric Dragt.
Nursing a three point lead into the fourth, Magaña made his fourth 3 and executed an inbound play that resulted in a basket by Rodriguez made the score 45-37 with under seven minutes in the game.
The two teams then traded deep 3’s five times as Magaña had two and Jacob Rodriguez. Sandwiched in between were 3’s from Meyers and Simon Te Velde. An inside bucket by Highstreet and a 3 by Draagt made the score 54-51 with under 30 seconds in the game. Rodriguez would go on to make two huge free throws and CVC was unable to score again.

Exeter scored its goal early in the match as the Emperors tried desperately to even the score, but the Monarchs held on for the win.
“Honestly, overall we had a pretty good season,” Diaz said. “It’s a young team. We only have three seniors, but I feel like they deserve to go to playoffs.”

In a road match on Friday at Central Valley Christian, the Cavaliers turned the tables on Dinuba as they pulled out a 2-1 win.
Yakaren Estrada scored the lone goal for Dinuba in the first half, according to Diaz.
Diaz said a penalty kick awarded to the Cavaliers came back to haunt the Emperors.
“It was a tough call,” Diaz said.

Two weeks ago, Dinuba High girls soccer coach Claudia Diaz had hoped the team could win one of their last four matches to lock up a playoff spot.
Now the team will have to wait and see if they will play another match after a tough 1-0 loss at home against Exeter on Tuesday.
“We came very close to scoring a few times,” said Diaz. “We had a few shots at the end, but I’m so proud of

on Friday. Once the Emperors did, there was no turning back as Dinuba defeated CVC 3-0.
The Emperors were led by senior Marco Garcia and sophomore Jose Ramirez, who each scored a goal in the first half, and Duran punctuated the night with a 25-yard blast in the second half.
The Emperors had their four-match scoreless streak come to an end as CVC scored late in the game. In their first encounter, the Emperors escaped with a 2-1 win at CVC.
This time around, Dinuba controlled tempo early and scored first on a 20-yard strike from Garcia with under 20 minutes in the first half. A few minutes later, Ramirez increased the lead to 2-0 with a goal.
Central Valley Christian had a scoring opportunity turned away in the early moments of the second half before Duran’s score that eventually sealed the match.

The Orosi High boys soccer team has seen it all this past week.
The latest was the postponement of their match against host Minarets on Monday night due to poor weather conditions.
“We’ll play the match tomorrow night,” said coach Jose Quevedo. “Hopefully it will be better.”
The Orosi High soccer team struggled to finish opportunities at the goal and fell short against Riverdale 2-1 in a key West Sequoia League match on Jan. 31. At the time of their heavily-anticipated match, the Cardinals (13-7-3, 8-2) were a game back of the Cowboys (17-5-2, 9-1-1) in the WSL standings.
“We dominated in the second half and had our chances, but we couldn’t put it away,” Quevedo said. “We made two mistakes and they got us.
Luis Corona scored Orosi’s only goal of the match. The Cardinals suffered a setback in the match when an official disallowed a goal.
“It was a questionable call, but what can you do,” Quevedo said.
Riverdale ended up getting routed by host Fowler 5-0 on Friday, that caught the attention of Quevedo. The two teams were scheduled to meet in Orosi on Wednesday.
“I had to check the score one more time,” Quevedo said. “I couldn’t’ believe it. Maybe Fowler played a great game. Who knows?”
Quevedo and the Cardinals took care of Caruthers scoring three goals in the first half on their way to a 6-0 win Friday at home.
Freshman Kevin Guerrero scored two goals to lead the Cardinals attack Orosi also received goals from Ezequiel Zapien, Aidan Rodriguez, Antonio Lupian and David Pina.
Recording assists were Sebastian Aguilar, D. Pina while Luis Corona and Eliseo Pina had two apiece.

The Dinuba High boys soccer team will head into the playoffs with a ton of momentum as the Emperors cemented a solid regular season with a 3-1 win at Exeter Tuesday evening.
The win over the Monarchs put the finishing touches on a 10-0 Central Sequoia League crown and an 18-5-1 overall record.
Dinuba received goals from juniors Jorge Duran and Santiago Rodriguez and sophomore Angel Pineda. The win bodes well for DHS as the Emperors enter the playoffs with an eight match win streak.
Seedings for the playoffs will be announced over the weekend as the first round of play will be set for next Wednesday.
