"The one thing that has followed me in whatever volunteer work I do," McElroy told the planning commission. "Is that I have to look at how whatever decision I make will impact the people involved in that decision and make the best decision in that case."
She also told the commision that she bakes cookies and coordinates an annual 'Cookie Walk' around Christmas, something she said has grown over the years to nearly 30 participating families in Dinuba.
McElroy graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Political Science and also spent six years in Hungary working for an environmental- legal corporation.
She was appointed by Tulare County Supervisor Eddie Valero.

Hard to believe, but it's been almost 20 years since Dinuba had an actual hospital in town, Alta District Hospital. When it was here, the hospital was supported by a large staff and a group of volunteers known as 'Candy Stripers'. They gained valuable experience by volunteering in many hospitals, including Alta District Hospital, before going into the medical field.

The above photo was taken in 1972 and represents that year's group of Candy Stripers from Dinuba High School. The group then went on to serve as volunteers at Alta District Hospital. Recognize any faces?
