Staff Report
Volunteers are welcome to donate time or money to the fifth annual Wreaths for Reedley Veterans Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Reedley Cemetery, 2185 S. Reed Ave.
Wreaths will adorn the graves of about 1,800 veter- ans at the cemetery. This year, Reedley Area Veterans are us- ing donations to provide stain- less steel hangers to mount the wreaths at each gravesite.
Event organizer Susan Lusk said donations from vol- unteers are welcome to assist in ongoing costs of replacing wreaths, ribbons and hang- ers as well as providing the metal. Donations can be made to the Reedley Area Veterans nonprofit (write “Wreaths for Reedley Veterans” on memo line if making out a check).
The tentative schedule is to transport the wreaths from the storage at the Reed- ley Armory to the cemetery at 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 15. They will be laid out prior to the
10 a.m. ceremony. Wreaths will be picked up from the cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 5, and returned to the Armory. Wreaths will be bagged for storage the following Satur- day, Jan. 12.
Lusk said that Valley Iron, Inc. from Fresno has donated the metal needed to create the remaining stainless steel hangers needed to go with the wreaths, Others assisting in the project are Fowler High School FFA, Immanuel Fab Shop, the Knights of Colum- bus and O’Neill Vintners and Distillers of Parlier.
Anyone wishing more in- formation or looking to volun- teer can contact Lusk at (559) 859-2865.
