District Doings
• The Alta District Historical Society, in conjunction with the Armenian Cultural Conservancy of Fresno, will be hosting an art exhibit featuring the work of Katchador 'K' Boroian on August 25. The exhibit will be held at the Alta District Historical Society White House at 289 South K Street in Dinuba.
A view and reception will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and will feature an extended collection of the artist who spent a good part of his life in Dinuba. The works will feature artwork in three different medias; needlepoint, charcoal drawings and oil paintings.
A presentation by Deacon Van Der Mugrdechian will be given at 11 a.m. The event is free to the public. For more information, call 591-2144.
• The Knights of Columbus, Council #11788 of Dinuba, will be hosting a Father and Daughter Dance on August 25. The dance will be held at the Parish Hall at St. Catherine's Catholic Church at 356 North Villa Avenue and will be held from 6 to 9 p.m.
Tickets for the dance are $20 and provided entrance for both father (and/or father-figure) and daughter (and/or daughters). There will be hors d'oeuvres, arts and crafts, a photo booth and raffle prizes. For more information, contact Leo Soto at 679-1979.
• Open Gate Ministries will be holding its 44th Anniversary Dinner and Boutique on September 6. The event will be held at the Dinuba Seventh-Day Adventist Church, on the corner of Adelaide and Eaton avenues. Tickets are $12.50 and are available at the door or the Open Gate Shelter at 511 North K Street. For more information, call 591-1241.
• Soft Thunder Riders MC will be sponsoring the Western Regional Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall 5th Annual Fundraisher Run on Saturday, September 9.
The run, made up of bikers from throughout the Valley, will begin at the Visaila Harley Davidson (Goshen) and will end at the Dinuba Memorial Hall at 249 South Alta Avenue. Sign ups will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Visalia Harley Davidson, with the run starting at 10:45 a.m. A lunch, featuring barbeque chicken with fixings, will be held at the Dinuba Memorial Hall at 12:30 p.m.
Resistration fee for bikers is $25 per person and $40 per couple. Lunch for non-bikers is $10 per person.

• The Tulare County Child Abuse Prevention Council will be presenting their 13th Annual Cynthia Lockart Mummery Conference on Thursday, November 8, at the Visalia Convention Center. This year's thems is Building Trauma-Informed Schools and Communities.
Keynote Speaker will be Jim Sporleder, a retired high school principal from Wala Wala, Washington. He was was featured in the documentary "Paper Tigers" and is the author of "The Trauma- Informed School."

Police say he and the victim were in an altercation during which he reportedly held the victim down on a bed and kicked her. He and the victim reportedly have two children together. According to police, he is also the restrained party who was served in a criminal protective order, the victim being the protected party.
He was arrested in the 1000 block of Kamm Avenue, booked and later transported to the Tulare County Jail for housing.

Dinuba FFA welcomed back the over 350 members to the new school year. The program is excited to make this another great year. This year’s theme is “Dare To Be.”

• Christina Guadalupe Lopez, 37, of Reedley was booked on August 14 on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
She was contacted during a traffic stop in the 1800 block of East El Monte Way and reportedly displayed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. She was placed into custody and later transferred to the Tulare County Jail.
• Terry James McBride, 48, a transient was booked on August 15 on suspicion of being in possession of unlawful paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
He was cited and released with
a promise to appear.
• Isaiah Carmolinga, 21, of
Dinuba was booked on August 15 on suspicion of battery, a misdemeanor.
According to police, officers responded to the 1500 block of Oak Drive after receiving a domestic violence report from a victim. The incident reportedly occured on August 8. Officers contacted him at the residence and took him into custody for the alleged incident. He was booked and transported to the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility for housing.
• Matthew Andrew Gutierrez, 24, of Dinuba was booked on August 18 on suspicion of vehicle theft, a felony, and driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor.
According to police, he was located after the victim reported he had taken his vehicle from his residence. He was taken into custody in the 1500 block of East Saginaw Avenue and transported to the Dinuba Police Department for booking. He was later transported to the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility for housing.
•Alejandro Montejano, 27, of Dinuba was booked on August 19 on suspicion of battery and disobeying a court order, both misdemeanors.
