The enshrinement event will begin with a social hour/silent auc- tion from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m./dinner from 6:30 to approximately 7:30 p.m., followed by the induc- tion ceremony emceed by George Takata.

Flores, Pete Beiden, Clare Slaughter, JR Boone, Huntley Dayton and Jim Merlo will head- line the first class to be inducted into the new Hall of Fame.
“Those six, who played or coached at Sanger High School, are already in the Fresno County Athletic Hall of Fame and we thought that would be a good place to start,” said high school athletic director Brian Penner, chairperson of
the hall of fame commit- tee. The other inductees are Bruce Barnes, Her- man Cooks, Cole Her- ron, David Naranjo, Rene Schneider, Brian Wallin, Brent Webber, Lynette Wilke, Gene Green, Bill Herron, Nick Katzemyer, Dean Nicholson, Louis Papac and Bill Powell.
“The first group was limited to a maximum of 10 posthumous and 10 living inductees. Each year after that, a maxi- mum of 10 inductees, liv- ing or posthumous, will be selected,” said Penner.
“Sanger High School has a long athletic his- tory dating back to the beginning of the school in 1899. At long last, a Sanger High School Ath- letic Hall of Fame is be- ing created as a way to preserve and honor that illustrious past.”
Creating the Hall of Fame has been a collab- orative effort between Sanger Unified and the Sanger Historical So- ciety. The Historical Society and the school district will use the old Harding brick school house building south of the Sanger Depot Mu- seum to house Hall of Fame memorabilia.
