them to run a great race,” said Lichtenwaldt. “Their fit and ready, and if we can keep their minds strong as well they should have a successful day.”
Lichtenwaldt said Wasco has looked stronger than he’s seen before.
“They are definitely the team to beat, but we’ll make them earn every point,” Lichtenwaldt said. “In the five Valley Championships I’ve been a part of, we have never been the top seed going into the championship, so I think we definitely feel comfortable in this position.

varsity players who will move up to see varsity action led by sophomore striker Yesenia Hernandez.
“She will be one to lookout for coming off the bench,” Vega said.
Orosi won consecutive East Sequoia League crowns before section realignment placed the Cardinals in the West Sequoia League. There are a few teams Orosi is familiar with, Orange Cove and Fowler High School, but they have not seen Minarets
The boys squad will have some work to do as they enter the meet unranked as the heavy favorite will be Ridgeview. The Wolfpack are state contenders returning four runners from a squad that finished in the top- 10 from a year ago. Dinuba’s Jonathan Padilla leads the way after capturing a CSL individual title.
“We’re looking for a top- 10 finish,” Lichtenwaldt said. “There have been a lot of challenges and this will actually be the first race where every single varsity boy will be racing at the same time, so I really don’t know what to expect. I know they’re each capable of dropping a fast time so we’ll see how things pan out.”
or Fresno Christian in action. “We’ve played Orange Cove and Fowler before but we haven’t seen Minarets or Fresno Christian at any of the tournaments we were in,” Vega
said.
The Cardinals had a
scrimmage scheduled with Corcoran this past Tuesday but it was cancelled. Now Orosi’s first action will be the season opener at home on Wednesday against Woodlake.
Vega said the team is excited to get underway knowing they have a target on their back.
“They are willing to step up to the challenge,” Vega said.

then added a short TD run with less than a minute remaining in the half.
Dinuba tacked on a pair of TD’s in the third quarter that included a 32-yard pass play from Magaña to Huerta. Magaña then connected on a 9-yard pass to tight end Jonathan Calderon
for the eventual final score of the game for the Emperors.
The defense was just as impressive as they held Hanford to five first downs and recorded six sacks.
Andrew Mendoza led the team-with three sacks and five tackles while Joshua Sanchez had four tackles and two sacks. Justin Gonzalez and Ethan Espinoza also had four tackles apiece.
U.S. Baseball Academy
to hold Spring Training
program in Tulare
Special to the Sentinel players just can’t get in a summer league.
U.S. Baseball Academy, which operates a national network ofaffordable hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunningcamps for players in grades 1 through 12, is pleased to announce the addition of Tulare Western HS to its lineup for the coming winter and spring. Registration is now under way at www.USBaseballAcademy.com.
U.S. Baseball Academy’s Spring Training program provides young players with advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and baserunning training programs with instruction by the area’s top coaches at the area’s top facilities. Players who choose multiple skills qualify for discounted session prices.
U.S. Baseball Academy’s Spring Training program will be held at nearly 250 sites across the United States. The session in Tulare runs January 6 – February 10 at Tulare Western HS. Tulare Western HS Head Coach, Ken Searcy, will direct the program. Instructors will include a staff of the area’s best coaches.
With a player-coach ratio of 7 to 1, each player gets plenty of individual attention in a small- group atmosphere. In addition to unbeatable instruction by the area’s best coaches, players get a preseason tune-up that helps them enter team practice in mid- season form.
With numerous age-specific sessions, instruction is specially tailored for each ability level. Overall, it’s the type of intense, professional instruction young
Since 1988, U.S. Baseball Academy has run hundreds of camps and clinics for thousands of players nationwide. Each week, hitters rotate through a series of supervised stations, including indoor batting cages, with each drill designed to teach a different aspect of hitting. Players enjoy participating in hitting games and specialized stations used by top high school and college programs.
The program is designed to improve pitch and strike zone recognition, timing, balance, power, situational hitting, bunting, and other aspects. Pitchers work under the supervision of coaches who can help with all aspects of pitching, from fundamentals and mechanics to more advanced concepts. Drills and repetition will improve a pitcher’s speed and control.
Catcher’s camp covers all aspects of being behind the plate. Players will get instruction on stance, signs, receiving, framing, blocking, throwing, fielding bunts, tags and the mental aspects of dealing with pitchers.
Registration deadlines are approximately six weeks before each session begins, but last year’s camps sold out much earlier. Because of the low player-coach ratio, spots in each session are limited.
Complete details and times for each site, as well as registration forms are available online at www.USBaseballAcademy.com or by phoning toll free 866-622- 4487.

Special to the Sentinel
The CIF State Office, in communication with the 10 CIF Sections, has determined the need for schedule changes to some of the CIF Regional and State Championship events due to the impact of the fires in California.

Below is the 2018 CIF State and Regional Championships Schedule. Please note that the schedule is subject to change due to poor air quality and other implications due to the fires.
