A run in the bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the game-winner as Dinuba defeated Minarets, 3-2, last Tuesday.
Jesse Ortega hit a one-out single and reached third base with two outs. He came around to score on a throwing error by the Mustangs.
In the seventh, Minarets stranded the game-tying run at third base as pitcher Ethan
Tobias fielded a grounder and threw to first baseman Michael Gomez to end the game.
Dinuba led 2-0 after the first inning as Gomez and Ethan Lozoya each drove in a run.
Lozoya pitched four solid innings before running into trouble in the fifth as the Mustangs pushed two runs across, tying the game at 2-all.
Both teams were held to five hits a piece.
Ortega had two hits for the Emps, who improved to 9-11-2.

and Alyssa Hernandez drew a walk. Villareal gave DHS a 2-1 lead with an RBI single to centerfield. The Emperors’ scoring threat ended on a double play.
In the fourth inning, Villareal hit a one-out double and scored on a single to right field by E. Flores. Acevedo then followed withanRBIsingletocenterfield. Flores drew a walk to load the bases for Martinez, who grounded out to second base.
Dinuba outhit Bullard, 13-9, led by Garcia, who had three hits. Acevedo, Martinez, and Villareal had two hits apiece.
In the tourney opener, the Emperors dropped a tough 2-1 game to Central. The Grizzlies’ Mia Hernandez had the eventual game-winning hit on a line drive to centerfield to score Rosine Florez.
Emperors stranded 11 runners on base and outhit Central, 6-3. Garcia led the team with two hits. Martinez suffered the loss despite holding the Grizzlies to three hits with 11 strikeouts.
“We got runners on base but we couldn’t get that one key hit,” Patterson said.
Dinuba entered the tournament with some momentum after a 14-2 Central Sequioa League win against Immanuel on Thursday.
J. Flores had a big game with two doubles and four RBI’s. Isela Villareal had two hits and three RBI’s. Also driving in runs for Dinuba were A. Hernandez, Haley Amador, and Hailee Zapien.
J. Flores was the winning pitcher as she held the Eagles to four hits and recorded eight strikeouts.

The 5th Annual Quevedo Memorial Walk-Run for Education will take place at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 at La Esperanza Restaurant in Cutler.
Participants will finish at
El Monte School as proceeds from the event will go towards scholarships for Orosi High School.

The Orosi High baseball team posted a 1-2 record at the Ron Robinson Tournament in Woodlake as the Cardinals dropped the finale 3-2 to Granite Hills.
Orosi opened the tournament with a 13-4 loss to South Bakersfield before defeating Orange Cove, 3-2.
On April 12, in a West Sequoia League game at home against Parlier, the Cardinals ended a 10-game losing streak with a 6-3 win.
Orosi is 4-13-1 overall and 1-7 in WSL play. The Cardinals will play at OCHS this evening at 6 p.m.

The Dinuba Wrestling Club will be having signups for the upcoming Freestyle and Greco season in the Dinuba High wrestling room from 6 – 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Cost is $50 and will include your USA card. Athletes from the surrounding area are welcome to join.
Interested individuals will
need to bring a copy of your birth certificates as well. The club will be accepting ages 5 and up.
Practices are underway and will be every Tues. & Th. from 6 - 8 p.m. in the DHS wrestling room.

Dinuba High softball player Alexa Garcia is named Athlete of the Week after batting 9-for- 16 over the past ve games for the Emperors. Dinuba is currently 18-6 overall and 6-2 in the Central Sequoia League standings.
