Sentinel staff report
A recent flow or relatively steady rains has made more water available for people throughout the San Joaquin Valley, translating to more watering days.
Beginning on Wednesday, May 1, the city of Dinuba will be entering its Summer Watering Schedule and locals will be getting a three-day summer watering schedule for a second year in a row. The schedule may come as a relief and luxury to many Valley residents who were down to as little as one watering day per week during drought conditions just a few years ago.
The mandatory restrictions for summer watering will continue through Oct. 31.
Dinuba residents whose addresses end in an odd number will be allowed to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Residents whose addresses end in even numbers will be allowed to water on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
In addition to the daily restrictions, Dinuba residents are also being asked to water before 6 a.m. or after 8 p.m. on designated days. Runoff, water that runs onto curb and
gutter, is also prohibited. And watering is prohibited to all residents during and within 48 hours of measurable rainfall. Tips for conserving water:
• Install drip irrigation. With each watering, drip irrigation can save as much as 15 gallons of water.
• Adjust sprinklers to water landscaping only and not driveways or sidewalks. This can also save up to 15 gallons of water with each watering.
• Install new low-flow aerators in bathroom faucets to save in additional 1.2 gallons of water per day.
• Installing new high efficiency toilets that flush at a rate of 1.28 gallons per flush can save a household as much as 19 gallons per day.
• Cutting a 10-minute shower in half and installing a low-flow showerhead can save an additional 12.5 gallons of water per shower.
• Newer high efficiency washing machines (with a water factor of 4.0 or less) can save anywhere from 10 to 20 gallons of water per load.
• Staying within the restricted hours can also save as much as 25 gallons per watering day, as much of the water used during hot summer days can be lost due to evaporation.
Wednesday
This will be an outdoor venue located at 3510 Cove Avenue in Reedley. The cost for the event is $50 and includes a steak dinner with all the trimmings, music by Dave Stamey, a no host bar and raffle.
For tickets or for more information, contact Dave Ysusi at 259- 6759, Tim Conklin at 259-9859 or Ed Smither at 972-5256.
• On Sunday, Apr. 28th, the Dinuba Christian Ministerial Association invites you to join with other Christians from our city and region to pray for God to break through in our community.
The event will be held at Dinuba High School Football Stadium. The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with worship performed by an inter-denominational praise band comprised of musicians from our local churches. We will then transition to corporate prayer as the body of Christ for each of the seven major areas of influence in our community: Government, Education, Family, Arts & Entertainment, Media, Church and Marketplace/Economy.
The evening will conclude with communion being received as one body (participation is optional).
