Early test at Sanger Invite
Clovis North’s Isaiah Galindo won the race in 15:28.12. The Broncos, behind Galindo, won the team race with 41 points.
In the junior varsity boys race, Marco Garcia covered the 2.1mile course in 22:13.16 for 62nd and Andres Contreras was 108th in 27:37.98.
The girls team was led by Fabiola Rodriguez who was 41st in 22:38.50 and Cintia Mondragon who was timed in 24:00.09 for 57th overall. Daniela Tejeda posted a time of 25:35.61 earning her 76th place and Esby Mercado was 125th in 34.26.62.
Clovis North’s Miliana Perez won the race in a time of 18:04.20. In a close team race, the Broncos held on for the team title over Sanger, 53-59.
In the frosh-soph girls race, Gerve Viloria was 76th in 18:22.54.

In one of the larger meets of the season, the Orosi High boys and girls cross country teams tackled the Avocado Lake course along with 20 other teams at the Sanger Invitational Friday.
This marked the first time this season that varsity runners covered 3.1 miles.
The varsity boys team was a runner short to compete in the team standings as Sinoel Garcia paced the Cardinals with a time of 18 minutes, 36.92 seconds for 72nd overall. David Hernandez, who was the team’s top runner last week at the Kingsburg 2-mile run, was timed in 19:33.20 for 102 overall. Gilberto Giron placed 126th in 20:25.48 and Nicholas Chavez was 140th in 21:37.

The Cardinals got off to a great start defeating Barstow, 28-26, 26-8, and Desert High, 25-9, 25-17. Orosi then faced The Palmdale Aerospace Academy and split their sets. Martinez added the another touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard run cementing a night where he rushed for 78 yards on six carries.

Orosi added consecutive TD’s by Perez, who broke free for two long runs of 44 and 60 yards.
Linebacker Fredi Arciga led the team with five tackles while Nathan Lopez had four. Natahan Becerra also had an interception for Orosi.

The Cardinals will open West Sequoia League play against Caruthers tomorrow night. The Blue Raiders are undefeated with a 5-0 record and are coming off a 49-14 win over Parlier.
