Orosi settles for split in league play
Sentinel sports
The Orosi High girls tennis team picked up a West Sierra League win last Tuesday as the Cardinals put away Riverdale, 8-2.
Orosi picked up wins from Fatima Candelario, Gabriela Rodriguez, Citaly Lozano, Destidy Perez, Ashley Valle. The Cardinals, who lost at No. 1 singles and doubles, won two of three doubles matches.
The Cardinals dropped a 9-0 match to Fowler on September 6.
Lozano was involved in one of the toughest matches of the day at No. 5 singles against Keerat Kandiola, who came out on top, 8-6. The No. 1 doubles team of Carla Torres and Jasmine Andrade lost 8-5 to Lauren Tsujioka and Kimroop Bhatti.
Orosi will be back in action this afternoon as they host Orange Cove at 4 p.m.

Dinuba opened the game with
a touchdown drive as Mendoza scored from 7-yards out for a 7-0 lead. The drive was assisted by a pair of penalties by EHS on 4th down allowing Dinuba to keep the drive alive.
The Tigers stumbled out of the gates with consecutive fumbles recovered by Dinuba’s Andrew Mendoza and Alvarado.

Dinuba quickly answered with a short touchdown run by Magaña to make the score 20-7.
Mendoza led all rushers in the game with 144 on 14 carries and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Daniel Long had a big game with eight tackles and Josh Sanchez had six tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery.

Former Dinuba High standout and current Fresno State quarterback Marcus McMaryion had a big night as the Bulldogs defeated UCLA, 38-14 on Saturday in Pasadena. McMaryion scored five touchdowns, four rushing, andwas22of33for270 yards. McMaryion was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the week. Fresno State has a bye week before returning to Bulldogs Stadium to take on Toledo on Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
