Armando Sanchez Herrera Armando Sanchez
Herrera of Sanger died May 9 in Dinuba. He was 65.
Mr. Herrera worked as an agricultural in- dustrial mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Aurora Nava Torres of Sanger; three daughters, five sons, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchil- dren.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thurs- day, May 19, at Smith Mountain Cemetery in Dinuba.

Nerio Jr. Ascencion Nerio Jr.
of Dinuba died May 1 in Dinuba. He was 80.
Mr. Nerio worked as a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel Nerio

of Sanger died May 1 in Clovis. He was 37.
Mr. Ruiz worked as a line supervisor.
He is survived by his parents, Frank and Rachel Ruiz; one broth- er and one sister.
Visitation and ser- vice were held May 16 at Sanger Worship Center. Interment was at Sanger Cemetery.

Two FFA teams of stu- dents from Reedley Mid- dle College High School can call themselves state champions after compe- tition earlier this month.
The school's Forestry and Veterinary Science teams beat out all other schools entered during competition at the Cali- fornia State FFA Finals at Cal Poly San Luis Obis- po on May 7 to earn their respective state champi- on designation. With the

Dinuba adds 4 new fire personnel

The Dinuba City Council and city officials formally welcomed four new fire personnel with the Dinuba Fire Department during the May 10 general council meet- ing.
Yoshimi Toyota, engineer/para- medic; Trevor Deniz, firefighter/ paramedic; Gerardo Santana, fire- fighter/paramedic; and Emman-
uel Garza, firefighter/EMT-B; all wore formally sworn in to their new positions and introduced to the council.
Fire Chief Jordan made the introductions and gave brief bios on each new employee. The ad- ditions help get the department's staffing up to near-capacity for providing the city's fire services.
Also at the May 10 meeting, a public hearing was held to discuss
approving proposed changes to the city's Housing Rehabilitation Program guidelines; approving a budget increase from $200,000 up to a maximum of $500,000 for the city's sewer lateral program, and receive information and accept the close-out report for the Busi- ness Assistance Grant Program.

Reedley Cemetery OKs holiday decorations next week

The Reedley Cem- etery District is allow- ing the public to bring flowers to the cemetery starting the middle of next week to commemo- rate the upcoming Me-
morial Day holiday. Many people are ex- pected to visit the cem- etery to decorate the graves of their loved ones in observance of
the holiday.
Anyone wishing to
bring their flowers ear- ly may do so starting Wednesday evening, May 25, after 4:30 p.m. dis- trict officials stress that no mylar balloons and any items stuck into the ground are not allowed, and there will be no ex-
ceptions.
On Monday morning,
May 30, Cemetery Man- ager Wlliam C. Conrad and staff will be present at the cemetery grounds with maps to assist the public in finding the lo- cation of graves. The annual Memorial Day ceremony program will take place that day at the cemetery at 10 a.m.
The cemetery dis- trict's Board of Trustees ask that those who wish to use silk flowers, pot-
ted plants or wreaths and wish to take them home to use another time, are requested to pick them up no later than Wednesday eve- ning, June 27.
On Thursday, June 2, the laws will be mowed and watered; all decora- tions will be removed and disposed of to allow the areas to be cleaned and mowed.
Regular mowing of the grounds will resume on Thursday, June 9.
