• The theft of a purse was reported at 6:40 a.m. in the 1200 block of South Crawford Avenue. • An injury traffic colli- sion was reported at 8:03 a.m. in the 800 block of East North Way. Officers arrested an Orosi wom- an for suspected DUI, driving on a suspended license and an outstand- ing felony warrant.
• Theft was reported at the Walmart at 11:15
The Reedley Police De- partment handled 525 public-initiated and offi- cer-initiated calls for ser- vice, with 90 dispatched as Priority 1 calls. Offi- cers completed 75 police reports, made 18 arrests and issued 16 traffic cita- tions. There were no traf- fic collisions and two DUI cases, seven fire calls and 19 medical aid calls.

Bernie Morris Bibb Jr., a loving, husband, father, Papa and uncle passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021. He was at home in Reedley California surrounded by his loved ones.
Bernie was born July 10, 1949 in Fresno, California to Bernie Sr. and Betty Bibb of Malaga, California.
He was the longtime owner of Design Furniture in Reedley and Dinuba.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Mary Elizabeth Bibb; daughters Alisha Laine (Randy), Christine Krueger (John), grandchildren Ivy Simmons (Sam), Joshua Eppinga, Jacob Laine, Andrew Krueger and Marjorie Krueger. As well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leroy Bibb, sister Gail Barnes and his mother-in-law Betty Winter.

Leslie Ledbetter of
Sultana passed away
on May 13, 2022, due
to complications of
Multiple Myeloma. He was
surrounded by his family. He
was 59. A fifth generation
descendent of Tulare County
Pioneers. Les attended Monson-Sultana Elementary School and graduated from Immanuel HS in 1981.
After completing trade school, he worked for Tommy Dunn’s Pump in Sultana and Carver’s Pump Service in Visalia for over 25 years.
He later was self-employed in a yard and gardening business. The fourth son of T.J. and Lois Ledbetter (deceased). He is survived by his loving wife Christine, daughter Megan and son- in-law Cesar Perez; brothers Neal, Bart and sister Rhonda Davis. The oldest brother, Thomas James Ledbetter, Jr. passed away in January 2019.

Lydia Beckenhauer

Lydia May Selby was
born, the youngest of
six children, to Lloyd and
Jessie Selby, on January
9, 1932, at Fairfield,
Nebraska. She passed away,
at the age of 90, in Reedley,
CA, on May 13, 2022, after
seven years of challenges by a combination of Alzheimers and Heart Diseases.
After graduation from Fairfield High School, she attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary for 21⁄2 years, returning home at midterm to help her mother, after the sudden death of her father.
In September 1952, she married Irvin Gerdes, the father of Douglas and Jan. Irvin passed away following a brief illness in August 1956. In September, she and the two children moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, where she served as a dormitory supervisor and cook at Nebraska Christian College.
On June 8, 1958, Lydia married Don Beckenhauer, a young pastor. After waiting the required six months, he adopted her two children. Together they graduated from Nebraska Christian College in 1961. Their family was later blessed with arrivals of children Kevin, Donna, and David.
Lydia and her family have lived in Nebraska, Illinois, and California since 1967. The family has lived in Reedley since 1977, where they conducted farming operations while Don was also flying for United Airlines. Lydia loved to travel, and together with Don, she visited nearly every state, and 20 foreign countries.
Lydia was a devoted Christian, and was baptized in 1940. She devoted much of her life to church related activities. She served as a church pianist, organist, choir director, and DVBS director before moving to Reedley. Together with her husband, she helped organize the Community Youth Ministry in Reedley. Lydia felt her “Gift from God” was loving people. She “never knew a stranger”.
She leaves to mourn her passing, Don, her husband of 64 years, their five children and spouses, and more than 50 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
There will a Celebration of Life for Lydia at Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church, at 11:00 AM,
on Saturday, June 11, 2022.
