A2 | Thursday, October 25, 2018 News The Dinuba Sentinel Three arrested in assault, kidnapping and robbery
Sentinel staff report
Three people from Fresno were arrested on Thursday, Oct. 18, and another remains on the loose for a home invasion and attempted kidnapping that resulted in a high-speed chase in Dinuba.
According to police, officers from the Dinuba Police Department were dispatched to the apartments in the 1600 block of South Greene Avenue at 1:41 a.m. for a report of a possible residential burglary in progress. While enroute, officers say they were advised that it appeared someone was being forced into a vehicle.
That vehicle was seen leaving the area northbound on Alta Avenue at a high rate of speed and ran the red signal light at Alta Avenue and El Monte Way,
say police.
Officers say they attempted
to stop the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. While chasing the vehicle, officers were advised by dispatch that the suspects were armed, one with a shotgun and another with a handgun.
Police continued chasing the vehicle northbound on Alta Avenue and requested air support and assistance from surrounding agencies. While in pursuit, the vehicle crashed into a grape vineyard at American and Alta avenues, where the suspects reportedly fled on foot.
At the crash scene, officers located a shotgun and a handgun inside the vehicle. With the assistance of a CHP Plane, a perimeter was set up and officers began checking the area.
Officers say almost immediately
the plane was able to locate a subject in a field in the area. When officers responded to the location they found and detained 20-year old Angel Nicole Garcia, 20, of Fresno.
Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputies, who also assisted, were then able to locate tracks that led to a vacant property with a shed on it. Inside the shed, officers say they located a 16-year old male and 19-year old Elijah Joseph Gonzales-Luna, both of Fresno.
All three suspects were taken into custody booked. Both Garcia and Gonzales-Luna were transported to the Tulare County Pretrial Facility. The 16-year old was taken to the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility.
As for the victim, a male in his early 20’s from Dinuba, police say he managed to escape before
