Flu Vaccines
The Fresno County De- partment of Health will pro- vide flu vaccines at the Reed- ley Community Center from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 20.
Senior Prom & Dinner
Sep. 21, a special evening of dining and entertainment will be held for local seniors 55 years and older. Tickets are $10. Come by the Senior Cen- ter, Monday -Friday from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
Café Bistro / Billiards
Bring a friend, enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and a dan- ish, and play a game of pool. We play at 9 a.m. Monday to Friday at the senior center.
Senior Center Lunches
Meals taste so much bet- ter when you enjoy them with others! Join us in the Phil Hudson Senior Room week- days at 11 a.m. (except holi- days) for a nutritious lunch and good time.

Deputies from the Fresno Coun- ty Sheriff's boating unit were on patrol on Sep. 2 as the peak floating season came to a close on the Kings River. Deputies said the season has been aver- age and they are glad to report there were no fatalities on the river this year.

fear, when asked if they know how to swim, Stokes said their reply is almost always, "No."
As we stood in a circle and talked about the river, Deputy Mejia said something interesting. I liked his choice of words when describing the Kings River and its ferocity.
"The river, she likes to go fast and she's very unforgiving." That really stuck with me, I've stood near the banks of the Kings River near the Olson St. bridge, as well as near Good- fellow, Deputy Mejia is right, it is swift, it is intimidating, it is unforgiving.
So remember, put on a life jacket if you plan to float down the Kings River next summer, if you don't know how to swim, make sure you learn the basics, those are skills that are invaluable and you'll never know when you need them.
