Valdez stated that this was the first social media threat in the Cutler-Orosi school district, and it came less than a week after students were informed of how to properly address such situations.
Said Valdez, “I would tell parents, ‘You need to talk to your kids and see what’s happening in your homes’.”
The Friday before the reported altercation and lockdown at Orosi High School, Tulare County Sheriff’s deputies
responded to a shooting in the Orosi area involving a 25-year- old man and a 14-year-old passenger. The victim in that shooting, the 25-year-old, was treated for a non-life-threatening wound to his torso, and according to Macias, is a known and documented gang member.
That case, along with the altercation near Orosi High School, remains under investigation. It is unknown whether the two cases are related.
