The Friends of the Dinuba Library will hold five drawings for a free book, as well as additional gifts for the winner in the adult category. The lucky winners’ names will be drawn on April 27 at 4:30 p.m. at the Dinuba Library in honor of National Library Week, which is April 6 to April 14.
Throughout the month of April, all are invited to check out books in order to be eligible for the drawings. For each visit that a book is checked out, one ticket will be given for a chance to be one of the winners.
The five drawing categories are:

Jose Alfredo Angulo, 39, of Orange Cove, was booked March 22 on suspicion of burglary, inflicting corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, domestic violence against someone with a protective order and threatening with the intent to terrorize, all felonies.
The suspect allegedly “forced his way” into the victim’s location, pushed her and threatened to kill her, a Dinuba Police report said.
He was arrested in the 1600 block of East El Monte Way and transferred to county jail.
Angulo was also booked March 21 on suspicion of disobeying a court order.
He was arrested in the 1800 block of East El Monte Way.
• Erik Alan Pineda, 28, of Dinuba, was booked March 25 on suspicion of battery to a spouse or cohabitant, a misdemeanor.
The suspect allegedly “threw water on the victim and dragged her across the room in an attempt to kick her out, causing minor injuries,” a Dinuba Police report said.
He was arrested in the 700 block of Jade Court and transferred to county jail.
• A 17-year-old boy was booked March 23 on suspicion of possessing a weapon at school, a misdemeanor.

Alta Irrigation District reported that the rainfall measured for the 24-hour period ending at 6 a.m. Saturday, March 17, was 0.35 of an inch.
The totals for the following days were:
• 0.43 measured on Wednesday, March 21.
• 0.86 measured on Thursday, March 22.
• 1.07measuredonFriday, March 23.
Total rainfall for the season that began on July 1 to date is 7.1 inches of precipitation. Last year’s total was 17.43 inches.

The suspect allegedly “admitted to sexual molestation” during an investigation, a Dinuba Police report said. The suspect was also a suspect of a previous kidnapping attempt.
He was arrested in the 1500 block of East Magnolia Way and transferred to county jail.

June 17, 1923 ~ March 20, 2018
Betty L. Coates, formerly of Dinuba,
passed away peacefully in Sacramento on March 20, 2018, at the age of 94. Her two surviving children, Carolee Kilduff of Sacramento and Jeffrey Coates of South Lake Tahoe, and her beloved Siamese cat were at her bedside. She is pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years, Roland (Rollie) Coates, and her daughter, Judy Seaman. While living in Dinuba Betty worked for General Telephone in Reedley and was active in a number of local bridge groups. Betty and Rollie traveled to the International Lions Club convention in Taipei in 1986 when he was District Governor.
Funeral services will be at Smith Mountain Cemetery on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Arrangements by Dopkins Funeral Chapel.
