the garage frame portion itself was spared. A classic vehicle was parked in the garage and sustained extensive damage. The fire was brought under full control within 25 minutes.
According to the release, the resident was alerted to the fire by the smell of smoke from the garage while inside the residence.
Property damage and contents loss is es- timated at about $20,000, but the home was saved and not damaged by flames. Accord- ing to the department, the residents will be displaced until the home’s electrical system is restored.
The cause of the blaze remained unknown as of Jan. 22. A total of 18 Reedley firefighters responded to fight the blaze, assisted by two engines from Fresno County Fire.
Staff Report
An unlocked truck resulted in the theft of a backpack containing personal informa- tion from in front of a residence in north Reedley on Jan. 16.
The burglary occurred shortly before 11 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Klein Av- enue, east of Reedley College. According to Reedley police Sgt. Dave Omstead, the 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck parked in front of a residence was “unsecured” — or unlocked — and a thief or thieves were able to gain easy entrance.
According to the victim a tan-colored
tactical backpack was taken. The backpack contained work-related photo identification, a birth certificate and other items. No cash value was determined from the theft.
Back on Jan. 13, a GMC vehicle parked along the 1400 block of East Curtis Avenue had its license plate stolen sometime around 4 p.m.
Those were the only recent car theft-bur- glary cases in Reedley for the week, although there were two vehicle thefts in Parlier — on Jan. 14 and Jan. 18. The Fresno County Sher- iff’s Office also handled a vehicle theft from the 9300 block of South Monson Avenue south of Orange Cove at about 6 p.m. on Jan. 16.

Jeffrey Neal Eubanks was born April 22, 1959, in Dinuba, CA, to Billy Max and Connie Friesen Eubanks. He was raised in the Sultana area by his grandparents, Raymond and Almedia Friesen. He attended Monson Sultana School and graduated from Dinuba High School. Jeff excelled in sports all through school from “King of the Court” to “CSL All League” for the Emperors.
Jeff met Colette in Spanish class as Freshmen, started dating as Juniors and graduated together with the class of “77. They were married on October 13, 1979 in Las Vegas with their best friends, Deanna, Bruce and Steve at their side.
Jeff always worked, from the age of 5, on his grandfather’s farm. In high school and while attending Reedley College, he also worked for Best Texaco. In 1978 he was hired by Martens Chevrolet in Reedley and still farmed. In 1985, his son Patrick was born. In 1989, Jeff still farmed and worked and welcomed daughter, Katy. Jeff went to work for George Jackson in 1992 while still farming. He played City League basketball and taught his children to work hard and play sports harder. Jeff farmed up until his health took a turn for the worst this last year. In November 2018, he sold the farm and made the move to Hanford – only the third town he had ever lived in.
Jeff loved shing, hunting, camping, sports, his grandchildren and, of course, farming.
