Speed, rain factors
in two separate

Road conditions and speed may have played a role in two accidents last week, leaving one dead and two injured, according to the California High Patrol.
Last Wednesday, Nov. 28, the Fresno Area Office of the CHP responded to a single vehicle collision northeast of town. The accident occurred near the intersection of Porter and East Floral Avenue just after 10:30 a.m.
According to the CHP, a 2005 Chevy Silverado went straight into a pole after running a stop sign at the intersection. Officers say the severe collision caused the vehicle to catch fire, and the driver, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

• A non-injury hit-and-run accident was reported in the 100 block of Euclid Avenue at 2:39 p.m.
• A female was reportedly making threats to employees and people in the lobby of a business in the 1000 block of North Alta Avenue at 3:29 p.m.
Wednesday, November 28
• Shots fired were reported in the 200 block of South M Street at 12:23 a.m. Two vehicles were reportedly shooting at each other.
• A vehicle burglary was reported in the 1300 block of Mesquite Avenue at 3:36 a.m.
• An ongoing issue with trespassers was reported in the 1300 block of North Alta Avenue at 8:49 a.m.
• An injury traffic collision was reported in the area of Floral and Porter avenues at 10:44 a.m. The collision involved a vehicle versus a pole.
• A commercial fire was reported in the 3600 block of Avenue 416 at 11:12 a.m.
• A hit-and-run accident was reported in the 600 block of North Alta Avenue at 11:14 a.m. The vehicle that fled the scene was reported as a dark gray Mustang.
• A ladder was reported stolen in the 200 block of Euclid Avenue at 12:52 p.m.
• An aggressive canine was reported in the 600 block of Cherrie Ann Avenue at 4:13 p.m.
• A chair was reported stolen in the 300 block of East Tulare Street at 5:59 p.m.
• A vehicle burglary was reported in the 100 block of North J Street at 11:56 p.m.
Thursday, November 29
• A suspicious subject was reported in the area of Gerald and North Crawford avenues at 12:02 a.m. The subject was reportedly carrying a backpack and looking into vehicles.
• A non-injury traffic collision was reported in the area of Avenue 400 and Road 80 at 10:58 a.m. The accident involved two vehicles and a school bus with two students on board.
• Vandalism to a vehicle was reported in the 1100 block of East El Monte Way at 1:19 p.m.
• An assault was reported in the 3600 block of Avenue 416 at 1:55 p.m. A female was reportedly pushed out of a vehicle.
• Vandalism to a vehicle was reported in the 1400 block of East El Monte Way at 4:13 p.m. A window to a gray Toyota Camry was broken.
• A trespasser was reported in a vacant home in the 600 block of North Vermont Avenue at 5:29 p.m.
Friday, November 30
• A noise complaint for loud music was reported in the 1300 block of San Antonio Avenue at 12:44 a.m.
• Boots were reported stolen in the 700 block of Bergenia Circle at 4:48 a.m.
• Domestic violence was reported in the 1400 block of North Crawford Avenue at 7:04 a.m.
Flavio Rodriguez
Flavio Rodriguez, a resident of Reedley, died November 28, 2018. He was 47.
He was a mechanic.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 6 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the new St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Reedley. Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Mass will be held on Friday, December 7 at 1 p.m. at the new St. Anthony’s Church.
Surviving family members include his parents, a brother and four sisters.

Velma Jean Reiswig
Velma Jean Reiswig, a resident of Reedley, died December 2, 2018. She was 91.
She was a cook.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 8 at 10 a.m. at the Reedley Cemetery Pavilion.
Surviving family members include a son and daughter, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
Dopkins Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.

One dead, two injured in two accidents just outside of town

The Visalia Area Office of the CHP responded to another accident on Saturday, Dec. 1, just east of town that left two women from Dinuba injured.
Officers say the accident occurred just before 11 a.m. on Avenue 416 near Road 96. According to the CHP, Alejandro Carreon, 18, of Orosi was driving a 2002 Mazda in the number one lane of eastbound Avenue 416. The CHP reported that he was driving at an “unknown high rate of speed.”
For unknown reasons, Carreon rear-ended a 1997 Nissan that was traveling in front of him, also in the number one lane. The impact reportedly caused both vehicles to veer off in opposite directions, with Carreon’s

• A license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1600 block of North Crawford Avenue at 7:28 a.m.
• A residential burglary was reported in the 200 block of West North Way at 8:09 a.m.
• Two subjects were reportedly looking into vehicles in an apartment complex in the 1300 block of North Crawford Avenue at 12:06 p.m.
• A residential burglary in progress was reported in the 1800 block of Franzen Way at 12:38 p.m.
• A theft report was made in the 1000 block of West Pamela Avenue at 4:35 p.m.
• Juveniles were reportedly smoking marijuana in the alley of the 300 block of East Tulare Street at 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday, November 27
• A suspicious subject was reported in the area of Kamm and College avenues at 5:50 a.m. A male wearing a black hoodie was reportedly following the reporting party.
• A transient was reported sleeping in between two buildings in the 100 block of North K Street
Dinuba. Their vehicle veered to the south dirt shoulder of Avenue 416, where it subsequently overturned onto its right side.

reportedly suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. After both being evaluated by emergency personnel the two were transported to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for further
treatment.
According to the CHP, drugs
or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision. Both Carreon and Garza were reportedly wearing their seat belts. Wilkinson, however, was not, say officers.

• A hit-and-run accident was reported in the 100 block of East Tulare Street at 12:47 p.m.
• A suspicious subject was reported in the 1900 block of Cameron Way at 9:43 p.m. A man was reportedly at a park with candles.
Saturday, December 1
• A possible illegal burn was reported in the 1200 block of Academy Way at 1:31 a.m.
• An injury traffic collision was reported in the area of Avenue 416 and Road 96 at 10:55 a.m. The accident involved a truck and sedan in a head-on collision.
• Domestic violence was reported in the 300 block of North L Street at 4:53 p.m.
• There were three noise complaints for loud music on the evening of Dec. 1. Reports were made on Arno Street and twice in the 100 block of South Q Street.
Sunday, December 2
• A non-injury traffic collision was reported in the 700 block of Princeton Avenue at 10:29 a.m.
• A reckless driver was reported in the area of Avenue 416 and Road 96 at 12:03 p.m. A subject was reportedly driving erratically, nearly side swiping a vehicle and giving gang signs.
• A non-injury traffic collision was reported in the area of Avenue 416 and Road 56 at 2:16 p.m.
• Vandalism to a vehicle was reported in the 1000 block of Rosemary Avenue at 5:18 p.m. A vehicle's window was reportedly broken.
• A noise complaint for loud music was reported in the 1900 block of Dunbar Avenue at 11:24 p.m.
