pulled hamstring. (But) it’s part of the game.”
Sanchez wasn’t his normal aggressive self and had to distribute the ball to his more fleet- footed teammates. Still, his injury didn’t damper his defensive abilities. He stole or intercepted the ball on a number of occasions, defeating a Coyote drive.
Junior forward Saul Sanchez spent much of his time on the field working to put together a scoring attack, dropping back to defend when necessary. He said he’s confident in his team. “If we don’t make it this year, I’m pretty sure we can make it next year,”

didn’t play the first game with the Apaches.
“The Panthers came strong and never let up,” wrote Sanger master statistician Ron Blackwood in his game notes. “Two players from SJM outscored the Apaches, scoring 58 points between them.”
Blackwood referred to Douglas and Green.
In the second half, the disparity in the scores looked like Sanger could use some help from Professor Ned Brainard, who appeared in 1961’s “The Absent Minded Professor.” Brainard, played by Fred MacMurray, irons his accidental creation onto the shoes of his basketball team so they can win the game.
That didn’t happen.
However, Damian Duarte did get a chance to drain a pair of three- pointers for six points, and Joe LeBeau and Jake Boust saw playing time when Alvarado used the opportunity to play his bench.
“It felt good getting (those shots) and kinda making a difference,” Duarte said.
Morice Norris’ 11 points led the Apaches. He had four rebounds, two assists and three steals. “Tough loss,” he said.
Isaiah Cuevas hit only one of his four attempts from three-point range as he was generally swarmed with Panther defenders with a much greater wingspan. “At the beginning, we came in focused,” he said. “But, I
he said.
He also explained his
thought process behind some of his drives for the goal. “I just see the ball and start making the run,” he said.

The Wilson Elementary girls basketball team had quite the season. The girls traveled to the Save Mart Center and were recognized at center court during a break in a game involving the bigger Lady Bulldogs from Fresno State, who were in the process of dismantling the Utah State Aggies. The little Bulldogs then capped the season with a championship game over Madison Elementary 16-6 at Sanger High. Under coaches Bug Ambriz and Amanda Alba, they went undefeated. "So proud of my girls. They have improved tremendously. I’m gunna miss them, but I know they have a bright future ahead of them! Perfect Season! Undefeated Champions! 7-0," Ambriz said in a post on the Sanger Herald's Facebook page.

don’t know what happened. We just broke down.”
Luke Dillon also didn’t have much luck from behind the arc, finding the basket on only one of six attempts. “We didn’t play our game,” he said. “They came out strong. They were ready to go.
“It was a tough loss. But we’re going to come back, play hard and make a run at the playoffs.”
Alvarado said it appeared his team lost focus early. “They’re a very good
basketball team,” he said. “We need to learn from this and get ready for Tuesday (a rematch with Madera South).”
“Every day is a new day,” said senior Avery Chatman. “We need to take this as a lesson and take this to the next team.”
