OHS baseball team blanked by Riverdale: The Orosi High baseball team is still searching for their first West Sequoia League win as the Cardinals were shutout by Riverdale on Mar. 22.
Orosi was held to three hits in the loss while the Cowboys had 11 and scored a run in the top of the second and three in the third.
On Mar. 19 at Parlier, the Cardinals had a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third until the Panthers scored five runs for a 6-2 advantage. Parlier added two runs in the fifth and six runs in the sixth.

“Their pitcher was a little slower and it took us awhile to get going,” Patterson said.
Jordynn Acevedo followed with a two-out single as Patterson inserted pinch-runner Madison Bautista for Acevedo. Villareal scored on a single from Alexa Garcia and Faith Hernandez delivered a double to left center scoring Bautista and Garcia for a 3-1 lead.
In the top of the fifth inning, Faith Hernandez belted a solo home run that pushed the lead to 4-1.
“She cleared the fence by about 20-feet,” Patterson said.
That would be more than enough offense for starter Kirsten Martinez. Martinez did not allow a hit through the first four innings.

On Thursday in a key Central Sequoia League game at Kingsburg, Dinuba posted a 10-2 win handing the Vikings their first league loss.
The Emperors roughed up Kingsburg’s sophomore starter Kayla Medrano for 10 hits as DHS scored four runs in the second and two runs in the fourth and fifth innings before Medarano was replaced by freshman Mia Estrada.
Villareal scored three runs and had two hits while A. Garcia had a double and three RBI’s. Juliana Flores had 2 RBI’s and two hits.
Martinez spaced out eight hits with four strikeouts and had three hits.

Dinuba High was the host site of the Yosemite Athletic League Cluster track and field meet on Thursday as Washington School competed against a handful of other teams from the area.
Washington’s Ailena Romero held off a late charge from teammate Mariainez Lopez to win the 1600 meters in a time of 6 minutes, 26.70 seconds. Lopez clocked in a time of 6:27.58 and Aaliyah Zepeda was third in 6:28.93 making it a sweep.
Chloe Benham also tied for first in the 400 with Amanda Caudillo of Valley Oak as they finished with a time of 1:05.41. Benham ran the anchor leg of the 4x100 meter relay team that was second (55.33) just behind Rio

Aiden Rodriguez was 6th in the 400 (56.39) and Martinez was ninth in 57.15. Both runners placed in the top-10 in the 800 with Rodriguez finishing 4th in 2:17.33 and Martinez placing 6th in 2:21.11. They each ran a leg on the 4x400 meter relay team that was timed in 3:55.46 for 5th place.

Romero teamed up with Dezmaree Garcia, Katie Ortega and Elaina Macias in the 4x400 meter relay as they finished fifth in 5:07.54. Macias also was 2nd in the shot put (24-05) and Aleiah Millares was 3rd with a throw of 23-4. In the 200, Ortega was 3rd in a time of 29.78.
In the triple jump, Breanna Hernandez was sixth place with a mark of 21-8 1/2 and in the long jump, Alexandra Smith, was 6th at 11-0.

Ivan Garcia had a time of 5:11.24 in the 1600 for ninth place and David Cecilio was 11th in 5:22.09. Cecilio did well in the 3,200 finishing 7th in 11:46.18.
In the field events, Fernando Vargas was 3rd at 5-4 in the high jump and in the long jump with a mark of 18-4 1⁄2 and De La Cruz was 4th in that event at 18-4.

Tapia, Ambriz, Juan Granados and Sanchez had a time of 51.08 to place 4th overall in a time of 51.08 in the 4x100. Granados and Sanchez then closed out the meet running on the 4x400 meter relay team with Alejandro Perez and Matthew Ramirez as they finished 5th in 4:26.37.
Guillermo Rosas placed eighth in the 1600 in 5:41.26.
Montemayor was also 6th in the 200 in 28.87. Montemayor and Hernandez each ran a leg on the 4x100 meter relay team that finished 4th in 55.57.
In the 800, Lopez was 7th in 2:47.52 and Rodriguez was 13th in 2:52.33. Rodriguez also finished 12th in the 1,600 in a time of 6:26.76 and Daniela Tejeda was 17th in 6:43.21.
In the discus, Aimee Quevedo was 5th at 72-10 1/2.
3rd place finish in the 300 low hurdles with a time of 54.02. Natalie Duran also had a seasons best in the 110 hurdles with a time of 20.49 for 5th.

Bingo Night Fundraiser on April 3

Dinuba Aquatics Boosters & Vietnam Veterans of America and the American Legion Committee will be hosting their 1st annual Bingo Night Fundraiser.
The event will be at 5:30 p.m. on April 3 at the Dinuba Memorial Hall.
The fundraiser will assist in scholarships that the American Legion awards every year as well as aid in the completion of the Vietnam Memorial Wall.
Furthermore, it will allow the DHS swim program to send swimmers to summer camps and help pay for equipment needed for the programs.

Dinuba High School softball player Jordynn Acevedo is named the Athlete of the Week as the Emperors posted wins over Kingsburg and Immanuel High. Acevedo had three hits including a pair of doubles and six RBI's as DHS improved to 13-1 overall.
