Local players highlighted in new book on Mexican American Baseball in the Valley
Book signing to be held Saturday at the Alta District Historical Society from 1 to 3 p.m.
Sentinel staff report
A book series is paying homage to the early Mexican American Baseball leagues in California, and players from Dinuba and Orosi are included in the newest edition.

Featured in the book is a short story of the Delgado family, who in the early 1930's put together one of the first Mexican American
culminated with what she said was one of her favorite plays ever, when those community players put on Fiddler on the Roof.
That play raised the roof at Hellbaum Auditorium as one of the best attended plays in Dinuba’s history.
And as for the building itself, much of the improvements to Hellbaum Auditorium, such as the lighting and sound systems, are because of Hylton’s efforts.
“This building wasn’t even being used when I got here,” said Hylton.
When asked what she will miss the most after retiring Hylton paused for a moment to listen to the laughter and excitement of a teenage crew on break at rehearsal and said, while pointing back at them, “This!”
“They get excited,” she added. “It’s work, but it gets them going.”
