RHS boys soccer, IHS boys and girls basketball capture section titles
and girls cross country, golf, tennis, volleyball and water polo.
Four of the five teams were undefeated in the NYL.
The Pirates girls golf teams were the first to clinch.
They captured a sixth-straight NYL title with a win at the NYL Championships on Oct. 9 at Airways Golf Course in Fresno.
They went a perfect 5-0 in league matches and have not lost a league match in six seasons. Reedley High's girls tennis team put the finishing touches on the program's first NYL title since 2012 with a victory over Hoover High on Oct. 10 at Reedley High School. They
finished with a 10-0 record.
The Pirates girls water polo team clinched
a fourth straight NYL title on Oct. 24, with a 22-5 win over Fresno High.
They went 8-0 and have not lost in the NYL
in four years.
The girls volleyball team was the next team
to secure a NYL title — they finished league undefeated on Oct. 26 with a victory over Hoover High.
The victory gave the Pirates a perfect 10-0 record.
It was the program's first league champion- ship since 2003.
Not to be outdone, the Pirates girls cross country team ended a 15-year drought by win- ning a NYL crown on Nov. 8 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
In the winter, the Reedley High Pirates girls soccer team captured their second straight NYL title.
The Pirates went 10-0 during the NYL season and won the title with a 2-0 win over

As the 2017-18 school year closed with graduations, it also marked the end of the ath- letic seasons for Reedley and Immanuel high schools.
The two schools combined to win four Sec- tion Championships and 14 league champion- ships. Here are a few highlights from the past sports season.
Reedley High School
Reedley High School athletics won one section championship and 12 North Yosem-
ite League Championships during the 2017-18 school year.
Reedley High's big moment was provided by the boys soccer team.
The Pirates boys soccer team won the pro- gram's first section title since 2011, with a 5-4 win over Redwood High School on Feb. 23 in the CIF Central Section Division II title game.
Reedley High had to overcome two pen- alty kick shoot-outs and a controversial finish against Dinuba High on its way to capture the title.
In the fall, Reedley High captured six NYL titles to reign supreme in the league.

IHS announces new
volleyball coach
Tigers' Barcellos heading to Fullerton
Brady Barcellos, Reedley College Tigers pitcher, has committed to play for California State University, Fullerton.
The announcement was made on Reedley College Tigers baseball's Twitter site on June 7.
Barcellos, who pitched for the Tigers in 2018, went 6-4 with a 1.89 earned run average in 104.2 innings.
He also had 70 strikeouts and was an All-Central Valley Conference First Team selection.

Immanuel High School has announced Debbie Lin- man is the new varsity girls volleyball head coach.
Linman's appointment was announced June 7.
Linman takes over after Janelle Gonsalves announced her resignation in Jan.
Gonsalves went 65-55 in four seasons as head coach, winning two section titles and finishing runner-up once.
Linman previously coached junior varsity vol- leyball and basketball at Im- manuel High.
She also has coached volleyball at Kingsburg and Reedley high schools.
Linman is a graduate of Reedley High School where she starred in volleyball, bas- ketball and softball.
She was the team captain in volleyball and basketball. She earned all-league honors in volleyball and basketball.
Linman received her de- grees from Fresno Pacific University and played on the volleyball and basketball teams.
Linman continues to compete in volleyball in city leagues in the area.
Linman said she is excited about leading the Eagles' pro- gram.
“I am anxious to work with the current group of athletes because they are committed to each other and being the best they can be.”
