Delft Colony concerns
A contingent of parents from Delft Colony attended the Board meeting to voice concerns about transportation issues. Students are bussed from Delft Colony to DUSD schools.
The parents expressed issue with a change to the bus drop- off location in the area. The drop-off location was changed to the community’s main street, which was described by parents as a dangerous road known for heavy traffic including big rigs traveling at high speeds - where major car accidents and hit pedestrians have occurred, significant flooding issues during rain and a large population of stray dogs.
One parent told the Board, "As concerned parents, we don’t agree with where the kids are being dropped off on that heavy, heavy street. We hope we’re not here a year from now because that’s one of our kids that got hit by a semi.”
The parents said that they were not informed about the change from the previous location, which had reportedly been in place for several decades. Representatives said that a notice was given, but that they were given to the students.
Superintendent Joe Hernandez said he would

stadium bleacher system would go up.
The result is a full- scale project that will seat approximately 1,500 more fans than what the current bleachers hold. In addition to the new stadium bleachers, a new all-weather track will be installed, along with track and field amenities. New bathrooms and concession stands will also
be constructed.
The district hoped to start
construction on the new stadium at the beginning of this month. However, the stadium needed to host one last event.
Last Tuesday, in what was the last game played on the current field, the school made history when the Lady Cardinals soccer team became the first team ever to host a State playoff game.
Orosi won that game 2-1 to put a fitting final chapter to a stadium’s long history.
Said Saghomonian, “It delayed the project a little bit, but it was well worth it.”
Also, back in November of last year, the Orosi High football team won a league title on the same field. It was the first time in 13 years that the football team had claimed a league title.
