Sawatzky. “And it was dedicated to Greg Zulim.”
The car, says Sawatzky, is a Greg Zulim design and has collective input from members of Double Z Hot Rods.
It was finally completed in January of 2017 and entered its first car show the same year, the 2017 Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California. In its first showing, Sawatzky’s dream car and the only car he’s ever built, won first in its class, placed second overall and won the Overall Outstanding Street Rod Award.
Later that same year, he entered it into the Goodguy’s Rod and Custom Show, where it won the Charlie Hutton Builders Choice Award and the Meguiar’s Magnificent Masterpiece Award.
And the list goes on.
In 2018 it won second place in its class at the Grand National Roadster Show and was one of
only 107 cars selected nationwide invited to the 90th Anniversary Celebration of the Model A in Pomona earlier this year.
Unlike many other show cars, Sawatzky isn’t afraid to take it out for a cruise here and there. Sawatzky shared, “My wife, Lavone, and I have been privileged to experience 6,500 miles of smiles driving the car to church, out on dinner dates, and anywhere else we choose
to drive it.”
