This is the 44th straight year Sanger has sent students to the State Science Fair, said Carl Gong, the district Science Fair Coordinator.
Sanger celebrated another successful year at the 2018 Cen- tral California Regional Science Fair held earlier in the year.
Sanger traditionally dominates the regional event, said Gong.
This year Sanger had 49 students at the regional award ceremony and 23 students qualified to go on to the California State Science Fair.
Four Sanger students were top award winners at the re- gional event.

Herald staff report
Madison Elementary School has been recognized as a Model Professional Learning Community (PLC) at WorkTM.
It is one of only about 200 schools and districts in the U.S. and Canada to receive the honor, said district as- sociate superintendent Adela Jones.
The school will be rec- ognized at the May 8 school board meeting, said Jones.
Madison was honored
by Solution Tree for its sustained success in raising student achievement.
The school's successful implementation of the Pro- fessional Learning Communi- ties at WorkTM process was a major contributing factor in the improved achievement of its students.
PLCs are schools in which educators recognize the key to improved learning for stu- dents is on-going, job-embed- ded learning for the adults who serve those students.
The three big ideas of a PLC call upon educators to:
• focus on learning;
• build a collaborative culture; and
• create a results orienta- tion.
