Dry conditions keep re ghters busy
A series of fires over the weekend kept local fire fighters busy. On Friday, June 29, the Dinuba Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the area of Nebraska and Englehart avenues. The fire was reportedly caused by a tractor's spark while it was discing the dry field. Fire fighters from Reedley and the Tulare County Fire Department also responded to the fire.

Jolly Trolly 2 will cut Saturday services from from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.backto9a.m.to6p.m.On Fridays, those routes will also end at 6 p.m. rather than 9 p.m. Route 1 and Route 2 both start at 7 a.m. on weekdays.
The Dinuba Connection will also cut back during the school year, making that route a year- round time from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We still have to get kids to and from school, but the numbers after 3 and 4 p.m. are not there,” Hernandez said.
In all, the changes will cut back 4,606 hours of service saving an estimated $109,531.
The city is currently working to extend its contract with MV Transportation for another year. MV Transportation is seeking a significant increase
in payment to cover rising employee costs. Meanwhile, the city hopes to continue for another year to prepare for a long-term plan.
The Public Works department hopes to conduct a full comprehensive transit development plan and data analysis before taking bids for the transit system’s next phase. The plan would assess bus fares, necessary stops and hours. The fares range from free on the Jolly Trolley, to $1 on Route 1 and Route 2, and $1.50 for Dial-A-Ride and the Dinuba Connection.
“We want to evaluate current operation and create strategies going forward,” Hernandez said, who hopes to have a completed plan by spring 2019.

I know we’re trying to do something positive here, but we saw this going on with the SHE project and it was voted down. It looks like this developer is doing basically the same, but is requiring a change and it hasn’t gone through the Planning Commission so the community has a voice whether they feel comfortable or not.
