Orange Cove woman suspected of killing her brother

Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sher- iff ’s Office have arrested 62-year-old Orlanda Haynes of Orange Cove. She has been booked into the Fresno Coun- ty Jail on one count of mur- der. Her bail is set at $1 mil- lion. She is accused of killing her brother, 60-year-old Sam-
mie Shirley of Orange Cove. At 9:30 a.m. Saturday, a person who had stopped at the Vista Point along High- way 180 in Dunlap saw an object that appeared to be a body laying down the hill- side. They made a report to the Fresno County Sheriff's

As detectives worked to identify Shirley’s family members, they located his sister, Orlanda Haynes. Dur- ing the course of the investi- gation, detectives determined Haynes was responsible for killing Shirley.
A motive for this crime is not releasable at this time.
This remains an ongoing in- vestigation.

Santos comes from a family of peace officers. His brother Robert is a retired Fresno County Sheriff Deputy. His brother Eric is a police officer with the Fresno Police Department and his brother Carlos is a police officer with the Clovis Police Depart- ment. Another brother, Victor, is a Registered Nurse at Community Re- gional Medical Center.
Santos’ last day on patrol will be Nov. 6.

Members of the Viet- nam Veterans of Ameri- ca Chapter #643 -Dinuba recently made a donation of $5,000 for reconstruc- tion work on the Memo- rial Wall located at the Dinuba Memorial Hall.
The donation was made to the Wall Com- mittee that is oversee- ing the project. Money raised came from the Fourth of July fireworks sales. There, many VVA members took part in working the booth.

Dinuba Police officers arrested 30-year old Isidro Villa after Villa be- gan to raise a weapon at the officers before being disarmed and arrested on Oct. 2.
The incident took place in the 1300 block of East Park Way when the of-
ficers were dispatched regarding a report of a male subject who was un- wanted at a residence.
One of the officers was able to safe- ly disarm Villa from the loaded firearm and he was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked into the Tulare County Jail on weapons charges and assault on officers.
