ended 2-2 with both teams feeling like they could have won it.
Day 4 would see another training session working on the coaching points raised from the previous days match. At night squad was treated to VIP treatment at the Nashville
SC (Soccer Club) vs Club America match in the newly build Nashville stadium.
Day 5 would’ve seen the AMS’s 2nd fixture but due to circumstances
out of the AMS’s control the match had to cancelled. Given this the squad decided to give back to the community and chose to go to
help at a local church’s refugee integration program designed
help refugees ingratiate into the community through football. At night the squad decided to celebrate our final night in Nashville by showing off our less then desirable karaoke skills.
Day 9 saw the final match of the tour between the
AMS vs Potro’s FC who help provide players to the MLS (Major League Soccer) as a feeder club. After some great training’s sessions, the squad was in confidence spirits heading into the game which was heightened knowing
the match was getting live streamed on YouTube to 1000’s of viewing across the USA and the world.
The match started in great
fashion as the AMS nearly
scored within 10 seconds
as Cpl Anthony Wood RAVC
was put through on goal but
could not find the finish.
After a couple of strong
penalty claims the AMS would finally be awarded a spot kick after Capt
instrumental Capt Ryan Pickering played a decisive ball to Capt Seesun Gurung. Who drove the ball passed the onrushing goalkeeper. The match ended 0-2 to the AMS with the Capt Ryan Pickering picking
up the man of the match award, sending the online viewing fans to bed happy with all round resounding performance from all the AMS squad.
With tour almost over the only thing left to do was for the coaching team to decide the various awards for the tour.
Overall, this was a successful tour the AMS going into the new season. The AMS male football team is always looking for fresh players and if you want to get involved in playing and being involved in tours like this please contact (Cpl Anthony Wood RAVC).
Day 6 With the tune of ‘Sweet Caroline’ still ringing in our ears it was time to make out way across country to the 2nd destination of Atlanta.
Ryan Pickering was brought down in the box after some tricky wing play saw him draw the foul and gave the referee no choice
but to point
to the spot. SSgt Jordan Page stepped up and
confidently put the ball into the back of the net to give the AMS a well-deserved 0-1 lead. The 2nd half started in the same way as the AMS dominated the ball and gave little to the home team. After some great build up play starting from the goalkeeper, AMS would increase the lead to 0-2, when the
Day 7 and 8 both began with training sessions in Piedmont Park in preparation for our final game. With the squad exploring what Atlanta had to offer afterwards including tours of the Mercedes bens stadium as well as attending a local collage NFL (National football league) match between (“Kennesaw state and Wofford”)
