himself away in the bathroom and his daughters were eager to know what he was doing.
‘Grandma! Is dad really going to Mr Weasel’s coffee morning with you today?’ asked Isla inquisitively.
‘As far as I know, yes,’ replied Tilly pouring herself another cup of tea.
Chloe waited before asking her question. ‘Is Velvet really going with him?’
‘You know she is. He told you all on Thursday,’ said Tilly frowning. ‘And Mr Squirrel is coming to stay with you until I get back.’
Both young rabbits grinned coyly and looked at their older sisters. Paris and Jessica had made sure their younger sisters asked the questions they wanted answers to.
Charlie swept into the kitchen. ‘I’m off now to to meet Velvet in Top Field. I’ll see you at Rowley’s, Mum. Bye girls – see you later,’ he said, hurrying out of the door.
Tilly cleared the breakfast dishes whilst the young rabbits sat discussing their dad and Velvet. Isla went to her grandma and put her arms around her waist.
‘Grandma, can we go and look at Velvet when she arrives? We can hide in your garden so that she doesn’t see us.’
‘Pleeease, Grandma,’ begged Chloe.
‘Go on. But don’t stand on my plants.’
Outside, in the wildlife garden, they met their friends, Jackson Squirrel and Matty Hedgehog.
