They shook their heads but he persevered until he met a water rat who knew Gilmore Duck’s family and gave Charlie directions to the family home set back from the riverbank. He followed a sandy path through tall birch trees and found, hidden in a dell, a wooden building with a red roof. The sound of laughter made him smile: he recognised the voice. It was Leo, and he was chasing his sister.
Leo spotted him and shouted: ‘Mr Rabbit! Mr Rabbit is here, Mum.’
