                                 RSYC/RNVRYC VOYAGE/RALLY ON SY NYDA TO CELEBRATE
MAYFLOWER 400 AUGUST 2020
History: Mayflower was an English ship that transported the first English Puritans, known today as pilgrims, from England to the New World in1620.After ten weeks at sea the Mayflower dropped anchor near the tip of Cape Cod on November 11th, 1620 with 102 passengers and crew.
Nyda: An Ovni 385 an ocean cruiser carrying the sensational parasailor! (a cross between a spinnaker and a paraglider) for dragging us downwind.
The Crew: Skipper/Owner: Geoff Taylor, Graham Tracey (RSYC member) and Mikey Palette (ex RSYC member). Known as Three Men in a Boat for many miles
of cruising and eating: including frequent channel crossings, two Atlantic crossings, Baltic, Med and Ireland.
Organisers of M400 Rally 2020: Royal SouthamptonYacht Club (RSYC) and Royal NavyVolunteer ReserveYacht Club (RNVRYC).
Organising Officers: Laurie Bates and Graham Tracey (RSYC) and David Monks (RNVRYC).
Itinerary of original rally: (modified due to COVID-19 and weather)
Saturday 15th August: participants to assemble at Cowes Yacht Haven. Sunday 16th August: cruise to Yarmouth. Monday 17th August: cruise to Portland with
meal at The Boat That Rocks (Monday or Tuesday).Wednesday 19th August: cruise to Dartmouth. Friday 21st August: cruise to Plymouth. Sunday 23rd August: end of rally, depart Plymouth (for West Country Cruising).
On Friday 14th August Cllr Sue Blatchford, Mayor of Southampton, presented two 100 year old Mayflower 300 badges to Laurie Bates and Graham Tracey, to be presented to the Mayors of Dartmouth and Plymouth in honour of their shared
maritime history, represented in the voyages of the Mayflower and Speedwell in 1620, precisely 400 years ago.The yachts in the rally would deliver the badges to Dartmouth and Plymouth.
