Armed Forces Day – Leeds
The Rifles was represented by the Regimental Association - Micky Miles, Maxine Pryce, Tony Rothery and Robert Choudhury and were all on parade at the 2014 Armed Forces Day in Leeds.
We formed up with the Ghurkhas, being of a certain stature we blended in quite well! So after a quick circuit around the streets of Leeds, we were then invited to take lunch in the civic hall, along with the Lord Mayor and invited guests. It was a nice relaxed affair and we were entertained by a young lady singer throughout.
There was plenty to see, lots of items on display and someone always on hand to explain what things were used for. There
were two ladies in WWII dress entertaining the crowds with their renditions of WWII popular songs and certainly had the crowds singing along!
Leeds City Council did an exceptional job of organising the day. Councillor Hyde was the Chairman of the Armed Forces Day Committee, so thanks to him and the committee members for organising such an enjoyable event.
