UKSB AND READINESS
In contrast to the rest of the Regiment conducting close down procedures for the 2019 Christmas period, 3/29 (Corunna) Battery was busy preparing to assume the role of United Kingdom Standby Battal- ion North (UKSB N). UKSB is a standing commitment whereby a Company is held at readiness to provide support to civil authorities. Previous deployments have seen the UKSB provide relief in times of flooding and, with severe winter weather forecasted, the chances of being called upon were high. However, flooding was not all we had to prepare for.

3/29 (Corunna) Battery Royal Artillery
Two years with 3/29 Battery
The Bty completed an all-encompass- ing training package including First Aid, Counter IED training and range packages, as well as learning how to integrate with Armed Police. The warmth of Cyprus was a distant memory as we arrived in Catt- erick for the UKSB confirmatory exercise, Ex CHEQUERED FLAG. The Battery was trained on the erection of mobile flood barriers and the command element con- ducted a table-top exercise with Armed Police. Passing the exercise with flying col- ours, and with our kit packed and ready to go in the Battery lines, we were then held at readiness over the festive period.
