8 NEW CADETS FOR
 1324 SQUADRON
During January 2024, 8 new cadets graduated
from the First Class Training Course and were enrolled with 1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron. In a ceremony held at Halifax Barracks, with proud family watching on (including a surprise appearance by former OC 872 (Hull West) Squadron, Flight Lieutenant Malcolm Bellamy (Ret’d)), the new cadets wore their official uniforms for the first time and made their cadet promises in front of their families and friends.
This proud occasion marked months of hard work as part of the recruit training flight, learning how the organisation is structured, how to recognise and address different ranks, foot drill, and they even completed introductions to first aid and leadership training. importantly, she has led our most junior members by example throughout, which is undoubtedly why she has delivered such an outstanding retention rate. That is why I’m delighted to announce that the only thing left for me to do is make her appointment official.”
Squadron Leader David Fuller, Deputy OC Central & East Yorkshire Wing was delighted to promote Cadet Flight Sergeant Edmiston on behalf of the squadron commander, presenting not just her new rank tabs, but also a book on leadership to support her ongoing development. Squadron Leader
Fuller was then kind enough to share some words of encouragement with the new graduates, and
to encourage the supportive family members to help the cadets chase down everything this great organisation has to offer. Emily is looking forward to working with the next intake, which currently stands at 10 recruits.
