Following the Coronation Parade the contingent were given a day off and again were plied with plenty
of alcohol as they toured London proudly wearing their ‘Blues’. On return to Germany again Carter was summoned, this time to be awarded the Coronation Medal. The medal
is proudly displayed along with John’s other campaign medals in his Monmouthshire home.
John also saw active service during the Eoka Uprising in Cyprus. From 19th January 1957 to the
end of March, EOKA’s guerrillas attacked members of the Turkish community, starting with a Turkish Cypriot police officer, sparking riots lasting three days. Intercommunal (and intra-communal) violence escalated in the summer of 1958 with numerous fatalities.3 Once again in his busy career, John was attached
to the Royal Marines, where he
was decorated a second time with a Mention in Dispatches for his actions during an ambush of terrorists.
John is equally very proud of the
RM plaque he received during the

to Long Kesh (The Maze) to guard internees.

to Europe in his role judging Gun Dog trials, before he finally retired in 1993 when he continued with his hobbies of shooting and fishing.

The K9 Way prides itself on the Highest of standards of training for every single client that comes through its doors and this has originated from John’s time serving in the RAVC. of John’s business has resulted in him becoming an award winning dog trainer being awarded Scotland’s best Dog Trainer in 2021 voted for by the public. He has always been fortunate to have worked alongside a number of charities over the years, due to the success of his business John has been in a position to raise over £30,000 for children in poverty within the rest of Scotland none of this would have been possible if it were not for the success of The K9 Way.
In 2022 The K9 Way opened its doors to a brand new indoor training centre in Glasgow welcoming clients from all over the UK and ensuring a safe and controlled area to train which allows The K9 Way to continue to grow.
