From the editor
by Lt Col (Retd) Chris Ham MBE RAVC
With the longer darker evenings, I would have hoped
that more may have put pen to paper and wrote further articles
for submission for this edition of Chiron Calling. I do thank with great appreciation those who did contribute – thank you. As said 18 years ago in previous editorial... “If you do something out of the ordinary or worth reporting please do not forget
Training demonstrates how the Corps continues to progress in its daily activities. Well done to those particular contributors from 1 MWD Regt and DATR.
It would be rewarding to hear some short personal accounts of activities both past and present, whether from operations or training. All too often these personal stories are soon lost forever, many will
have more value than just a story. Not forgetting the Corps animals, I am sure there are some interesting accounts of what a horse or a dog did on one occasion, and perhaps
your Chiron Calling – after all it’s your magazine”.
“If you do something out of the ordinary or worth reporting please do not forget your Chiron Calling – after all it’s your magazine”
what a ‘veteran’ or retired MWA has been doing of late.
Many serving RAVC personnel work at ‘wider employment’; or in the case
All readers
and particularly
serving
personnel are
encouraged
to contribute articles, Adventure Training (AT) and Sports related articles are very much the norm, older readers are always interested to hear what is happening in today’s RAVC. Whether it is exercise support in the UK or overseas or smaller training events conducted at regimental level are actually
of great interest. New, novel or contemporary training techniques and equipment in use as well as interactions with the plethora of units the Corps works alongside today would be well received
by Chiron readers. The account
of K9 Diesel and Initial Trade
of RAVC Reserves please use the opportunity to inform of what you are doing outside the Corps or your experiences of wider significance.
Chiron Calling readership is far and wide many find articles / accounts fascinating. The RAVC does interesting work; often
in interesting places with very intelligent personnel please let everyone know the good work the Corps continues to do for its Country.
Please note the closing date for articles for the next Chiron Calling Spring/Summer Edition 2023 is Monday 1st May 2023.
