                                OUNDLE CINEMA
Lights, camera, action...
After a break of almost a year,
Creative Oundle is delighted
to announce that it is once
again showing films in Oundle.
This time we are showing films
at the QVH which, judging
from feedback from our first
showing on 27th October, was
a popular move (partly because
we can now seat people in front
of tables and not just in rows);
and we will be showing films
on the last Friday of the month at 7.30pm, with the bar open from 7pm.
For information, the Queen Victoria Hall was constructed in 1904 to commemorate the death of the late monarch. The Victoria Cinema first appeared in the Kinematograph Year Books in 1935, so has been used as a cinema for almost 90 years!
We found that, as a result of the pandemic and the cost of living crisis, numbers were dwindling to the point of films making a loss which, as a charity, we cannot support, so we have reviewed our offering, venue and set up and hope that we now have a winning formula which people will want to attend.
We had an audience of 30 plus ten volunteers to see our first film ‘Contagion’ and everyone was very helpful in providing feedback, including a popular vote for drama/real life
films rather than recent blockbusters, and we had a vote for either ‘Love Actually’ or
‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ for our Christmas showing. Potential future film ideas include Kinky Boots, Hidden Figures, Green Book, the Dig, Tolkien, Cinema Paradiso and others.
We are confident that Oundle has a big enough population
to support this venture, and
it is great to be able to walk to a venue for an entertaining evening out with friends. Do have a look at our website for forthcoming films – our Christmas Film will be on the 22nd December, at 7.30pm with doors and bar opening at 7pm – and there will be mince pies!!
We are always in need of volunteers to man the bar, box office and to help set up the venue, so if you are interested in getting involved, please do let us know at the email address above or by contacting us through the website. We
are always open to suggestions and feedback and look forward to seeing you in the coming months!
We want to hear from you – tell us what
you want from your Cinema at info@ creativeoundle.co.uk and we will do our best.
