            REAR OPERATIONS GROUP (ROG)
With a third of the Battalion deployed on Op TORAL 10 including large elements of the chain of command, the 2 RIFLES ROG has supported those deployed in Kabul throughout lockdown. As lockdown lifted and Riflemen returned, more freedoms became available, but the ROG, (among other challenges), took on the common
lockdown fallouts of banana bread and big hair!
Cpl Nicholls, LCpl Waugh and LCpl Clifton challenged themselves to complete a half marathon of burpees as a relay around
the running track in 24 hrs. In the end they finished in 21 hrs, completing 18 laps each and raising £2000 for the NHS.
Later in the summer the ROG organised a North Coast Challenge, running a
half marathon along the North Coast of Northern Ireland past the iconic Giants Cause way. It was a spectacular route made all the more so by the absence of tourists.

 RSM Bramham and Bugle Platoon
 Hillsborough Palace
Another busy year for the 2 RIFLES Bugles on top of the usual Battalion activity of VIP visits and supporting local events in North Ireland. The Buglers have been in high demand sorting wider Defence Engagement around the world. Bugler O’Neil has been on Op TOSCA with 7 RIFLES providing ceremo- nial support to their deployment. LCpl Java deployed to India to conduct Remembrance Parades for the British Embassy while Bugler Ramsden did the same in Morocco.
The Bugle Platoon did exceptionally well under the Command of Acting Bugle Major LCpl Creany at the Bugles Concentration, coming in 3rd place. In the individual competi- tion, all four buglers were in the top 15.
With the cancellation of the Battalion photograph at Hillsborough Palace due to COVID-19, the Buglers were still able to take
advantage of the photographer to get some iconic photographs in front of the Royal Palace. The Battalion has welcomed the arrival of Bugle Major Robottom who arrived in August and looks forward to a busy year in 2021.

RUGBY
2 RIFLES Rugby team played in the Championship North Division this season reaching the finals which was sadly cancelled due to COVID.
2 RIFLES is still providing a huge number of players and coaches to Infantry Rugby and this year LCpl Josh Hartley continued playing Army A and stepped up to Army first XV. LCpl Adam Beagle played every Army U23s game this season an outstanding effort for any player but even more impressive for a prop. Lastly Cpl Bean has had his professional contract with Northampton Saints extended for another year, which is fantastic news, we wish him well for next season.
