DURHAM CITY REMEMBRANCE PARADE
The Durham City Remembrance Parade and Service held in Durham Cathedral is now
a major “Remembrance” event involving many more Regiments, Corps, Services
and Young Peoples organisations than in previous years. Whilst all 14 DLI branches of the DLI Association support their local City, Towns and Borough parades, the Durham City branch has always supported the
main event in Durham Cathedral, where a separate wreath laying service also takes place in the DLI Garden of Remembrance
to the DLI, LI and The Rifles. The DLI City branch with the 68th Re-enactment Group then join the other organisations on Palace Green for the parade from the Cathedral to the City Market Place where the Salute is taken by the Lord Lieutenant of Durham, Mrs Sue Snowdon, the Mayor of Durham and senior members of all three services. The march past was led by The Band & Bugles of Durham Army Cadet Force.
Despite the threat of Covid-19 the Indoor Games 2020 went ahead on 15th March. Inevitably there were some branches who were unable to send a team. During these dangerous times this was understood. It also meant that some branches were unable to send teams for all disciplines. We worked with what we had and nevertheless had a most enjoyable day. The raffle made a total of more than £200 for the DLI Association. Thanks are due to Major Chris Lawton
MBE DL, Chairman of the Association who presented the trophies. The Association was very lucky to get the Games held before the national shut down came into force.

The DLI Reunion took place as usual on the second Sunday in September. The regiment was disbanded in 1968, but the Reunion still continues, though with fewer numbers than in the past. The Branch Standards and one large marching contingent of members paraded in the College Close for the Inspection and the annual March
Past, the salute was taken by the Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Sue Snowdon.
