Age UK Northamptonshire’s Business and Trades Directory – protecting older people against rogue traders
If you are looking for a trustworthy electrician, or perhaps a plumber, but don’t know where to start, why not consult our online Business and Trades Directory. We launched it to protect older people from rogue traders by connecting them with local reputable businesses who have been vetted by us. The contact details of over 18 businesses are listed on our directory, ranging from locksmiths to plasterers, rubbish removal to small builders and general maintenance.
We take up references from satisfied customers and hold relevant insurance certificates for all the traders who are listed. We ensure that they have declared that they have no criminal convictions, and that they have the relevant trade certificates
for the work they undertake. For example, a plumber intending to service your gas boiler must be Gas Safe Registered.
We have selected traders who are able to work to a good standard at a reasonable cost, whilst being courteous to clients at all times. Traders are asked to encourage clients to be security conscious by making sure they check identity badges.
We also ask that they let us know if they are worried about an older person’s safety as we may be able to help.
Our directory is split into three handy
sections, North, South and Central so that you can find a trader who covers your area. So why not take a look at our directory if you are looking for a trader you can trust!

All traders are charged an annual subscription fee to appear in the directory which covers our administration costs. We do not make a charge for supplying details on contractors, but all work carried out by the businesses listed must be paid to them in the normal way.
There is no age limit; all the traders welcome your business.
